12z gfs is pretty epic for Friday across parts of the metro.
Probably some tree damage if that much wet snow materializes.

we've seen this before, just a couple weeks ago. A quick changeover to snow , in reality take 8 hours, and dumps 1-2 inches of slop instead of 3-8. lol

And no other model, unfortunately, this morning, has anything even remotely resembling the gfs, lol

Yes there’s basically 0 support for that solution, most have a light rain/snow mix temps in the mid to upper 30’s with very little accumulation

Positive tilt trough as well.
Either nothing will develop or a rainy deformation zone

Of the 3 major Turkey quakes in the last 24 hours the USGS estimates the following Mercalli Intensities (surface shaking): the M7.8 and the M7.5 to be MMI 9 (Violent) and the M6.7 to be MMI 8 (Severe) for some portion of the effected area. As a point of reference 2010 Haiti quake was M7.0 but had MMI 10 (Extreme).

And yes I fully expect the GFS to be embarrassingly wrong with that Friday system.

The only thing that is even somewhat satisfying about this Winter is that it has been warm and snowless for the East Coast. It is so demoralizing for them to go even one Winter without an historic snow. At least so far...

We have had a couple of nice snows down this way, so I can't complain a whole lot about it. Having said that, it has been lacking many 60+ degree days thus far. If it is going to suck, at least give us some good stretches. And the bitter pre-Christmas cold was just uncalled for.
