My daughter had some very close lightning strikes down in Park Hills about a half hour ago and scooped up a handful of hail that fell with it and sent me a picture.

Thunder sleet with pea sized hail mixed it. Very noticeable lightning and thunder. Ground is covered down here in Ste Gen. I have a good video of the sleet/hail mix I’ll try to upload. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen this amount of sleet. Maybe groundhog storm mid 2000’s

Just might get the heaviest snow event of the season out of this one. Looks like already over 2" in West Belleville. Radar says a 2-3 more hours to go. Might get 3 to 4" here by the time it shuts down!

Little late to the party, but wife says there is thundersnow in Cedar Hill. I'm subbing in Ballwin, and it doesn't look like they are letting out early.

Man, it is ALWAYS the clipper-type systems that overperform and surprise us! We get these big wound up southern systems and time and time again the ingredients don't come together the way we hope, especially if there isn't an antecedent cold air mass in place (or enough cold air nearby to get pulled in).

2.25" in Edwardsville, still ripping. If we can keep this up until 3:30-4pm like the latest RAP & HRRR imply, we'll easily hit 3-3.5" if not 4." Radar continues to fill in nicely to the southwest with the back end of the precip shield still out just west of Union, MO.

Big hamster flakes pouring down right now, here in Silex! I haven't been out to measure, but eyeballing, it looks like about a couple inches thus far.

Thunder snow in northern Ste. Gen County!
I can't help but think this must have been what 1982 looked like, though for a much longer duration.

Legit hail eh?

Rockwood is calling off about 30 minutes early. Kind of nice when you sub and get an early release day. One of the kids went out and measured 2 inches about 30 minutes ago. We are about a mile south of Manchester and New Ballwin Rd.
