Finally! Big thundersnow in Waterloo. First time I've heard any thunder with snow since April of 2010 or 2011. Can't remember which year it was.

Had a flash of lightning then rolling thunder ….. steady snow but smaller flakes ……. I’d guess around 3/4 of an inch so far

As we left our PD at school I was trying to not fall in what seemed like the heaviest sleet I have experienced in some time. Needless to say I about hit the deck trying to slide to my parking spot when I heard a huge clap of lightning close to school and then the thunder that rolled that followed. It was wild! I almost hit the deck since I was tallest thing in parking lot and almost pooped myself all within a few seconds time. Need to upload some pictures of how big the sleet was too, borderline dippin’ dots to small hail! Looks like we have some lore heavy stuff moving through now. Glad to say we made it home safely !

I have to come clean with the board. Right after the first of the year, I brought my tractor home from the farm, and bought a box snow pusher for the front of it. So I jinxed this winter. So yesterday I thought, what the heck, we're not getting anything else this year the way things are going. So yesterday morning, I loaded up the tractor and hauled it down to the farm in Vienna, 1-1/2 hours away. Now look what happens today

Thunder sleet with pea sized hail mixed it. Very noticeable lightning and thunder. Ground is covered down here in Ste Gen. I have a good video of the sleet/hail mix I’ll try to upload. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen this amount of sleet. Maybe groundhog storm mid 2000’s I heard similar reports from folks back home but I figured they were just large sleet pellets. Legit hail eh? It was definitely pea/marble sized ice. Thunder snow in Bloomsdale here at the homestead now.

4.5" here at my house in Mascoutah. Took me an hour to get home from SAFB. I've heard no less than 5 claps of thunder since I've been home.

Yeah I just had the largest snowflakes I'd seen all day and they're roughly dime size at best. But it looks like that frontal band will just swing through me also.🤞🤞 I have probably 3/8 of an inch of sleet snow and hoping to add to that 7 miles west of DeSoto. Temp back up to 32* from 31*.

After we got out I had to run up to Country Mart before making the trek home. Was shocked when I was getting pelted with hail. Took me about 30 minutes longer than usual to get home on 61.

Not too bad. Huge flakes, snow on the ground. Thundersnow and sleet. Couple inches here and there. I'd say a success.
Plus it's not over for central, eastern and southern viewing area.

We vote that you shovel all the snow that falls at your place for the rest of the life of this blog just to kind of 'up our chances'. We are tired of Mother Nature saying to us, 'up yours'😁
