My thermometer in Arnold is still reading 31.4* but I think its frozen over. Not much melting here though. Grass and elevated surfaces are still coated in ice I was just eating lunch while looking at the deck outside and noticed there's no dripping off the ice from last night. The grass still has a glaze from last night on it, too. Has to be below freezing here

LSX added Montgomery, Gasconade, Lincoln and Warren County to the Winter Storm Warning. Was just about to post this. Up to .4“ of ice. That starts to get pretty significant.

Also, the new NWS radar is trash. Almost unusable Dude! You read my mind. I was going to post this morning if anyone else was having issues getting the radar to animate. Or show composite vs base. While the old radar was, old, it at least worked. I've been fuming about it ever since they switched. It really stinks. Looks more like something that used to air on a local access cable channel in 1984

Someone needs to write a book...... 101 ways it will not snow in St.Louis ....... 😂 Someone obviously did and Mother Nature found a copy and read it from cover to cover 😁 And reread it until it was dogeared

I'm trying to find what year it was (late 70s or early 80s) that we had a terrible New Year's Eve ice storm. I went to a party but we didn't stay real late. Lots of power outages, stop lights out that sort of thing. STLtoday is not providing any help.

Simmmer down everyone.... Considering the rather massive shift (albeit not totally unexpected) we are far from writting the final story here. Do we have a slam dunk winter storm.. heck no. Do we have a slam dunk miss... heck no. We have a watcher on our hands. The ensemble means look pretty good... but there continues to be a substantial and meaningful spread in the details... not at all suprising. Could this pass just west... sure thing. The lead wave sure looks strong enou gh to keep a little more money on a somewhat supressed solution vs a wrapped up/pull back solution. This has the potential to be a significant winter storm for a large part of our viewing area. The voice of reason. Things are never a certainty this far out.

I have been using Flash until just recently. Trying to use what the NWS changed to and it seems so slow and clunky. I will assume at this point there is something that I am/am not doing right. Hard to imagine the NWS would change to something this clunky and user unfriendly. I can't even find the toggle to speed up the radar. It says Station Latency 2 minutes?? I agree. The replacement is pretty clunky.

Christmas vacation has arrivwd! No TV for me for a week. Sleeping in and being a bum. No shaving...no stress. I need this break lol. And then there is the euro... It is definitely an interesting look. I will be honest.. this patterns feels more like a rain to cold setup...with some light snow or flurries behind the front. But, we'll see. I can't rule out a Euro-esque outcome. Quite a change from when you were low man and had to work all the holidays. Though I do miss the "weather from my kitchen with the family" segments. Those were always kinda' fun. Enjoy the time off!!

There was a narrow path storm like that in the late 70s. I was living in Jennings at the time and going to college at Parks in Cahokia. The house got 14“ of snow overnight and Jennings School District closed . But I dug out my car and got going. When I got to I-70 there were only a few inches and only an inch or so in Cahokia.

Philly hasn’t had an inch of snow since March 2019 and it’s looking increasingly likely they get the shaft with this nor Easter. Tough pill to swallow KTVI showed a live stream from there at 5 PM. Looks like the string is broken. They already have an inch.

I hope I bring this snow and cold back with me!!! Alaska is the neatest place ever!!! From Anchorage To Kenia to Homer to Seward to Fairbanks to Coldfoot to north of Wiseman there is so much incredible stuff to look at and learn about ( the Alaskan pipeline and dalton highway were such an unimaginable feat) all you snow lovers try your hardest to make a trip up here to the article circle in the winter you will not regret it! Call Coldfoot camp to book adventure It's probably too late to mention it now but if you have a few hours to fill before you leave Whitaker is an interesting town to visit. Road access is through a railroad tunnel that trains still use. Most of the town lives in a high rise that was originally built by the army in WWII. Also in the building is the police department, a grocery store and much of the school.

I'll be in Anchorage Fairbanks and Coldfoot the next week I hope to get to see the Aurora borealis on at least one occasion!!! We arrived to single digit temperatures and snow it warmed up to above freezing started raining change back to snow and there has been well over a foot probably closer to 18 inches today and there is more coming ❄️ You'll see plenty of snow (and cold) by the time you get to Fairbanks. I follow a family on You Tube that live in North Pole, just southeast of Fairbanks. It's been consistently zero or below for weeks with more than a foot of snow on the ground since Halloween. They also get precious few hours of daylight and it's dark by 3 pm

Anyone know anything about the northern lights possibly being seen from MO tonight? Missouri storm chasers say it's conditional. Bridget Mahoney posted this map to Facebook.

84 hour euro. Six different lobes of energy over the country Wouldn't that split up the available energy so that none of those lows has the possibility of getting very strong?
