It really sucks that for 3-4 days the models held tight with it being mostly snow. Then literally at 12-15z yesterday they abruptly jumped to the mess we had. Made it to work just fine… roads are thinly slushy and slick in spots but not into bed of shape Freudian/spellcheck slip of Chris just wanting to get back into bed. Was expecting more had melted this morning after last night’s rain. Hovering at 32-33, sidewalk slushy, but elevated has glaze. This is a frozen mid drip from tree:

Our school has opted for a late start. This kind of storm is a perfect example of why more schools need that option. We start at 9:30. By then, daylight will speed up the melting process.

Quite a significant icing after the snow and sleet. Enough to sag the evergreens

No coffee. Since moving to this shift my health has taken a hit... high blood pressure High bp myself. I do drink coffee but i supplement with lots of water and im on 25 mg losartin each day. It has gotten my hbp under control. You have a tough schedule, basically winding down when the sun is at its highest, and having to stay on top of your game. Good luck, sir.

It's mostly melted off now, but had a pretty good glazing of ZR here last night. I believe it started as sleet at the onset and then transitioned to ZR...there was never any snow that I am aware of.

I got...freezing drizzle through the night. Sitting at 33 now. Pretty sure not a flake fell from the sky up my way. I hope the pattern being shown comes together heading into March. I’d rather be torching than be in a cold rain pattern. Some good news though.

Well... this event is in the books...
It might have been one of the toughest of the season so far too. In the end, it was not an epic bust or failure...but it was far from perfect. A case where I just dont think there was much more we could have done to get it better.

I have the hypertension and drink coffee, as well, and have to take several prescriptions to control it. Coffee is one of the few vices I still allow myself - no alcohol. I also know I could stand to lose a bunch of weight. But with severely arthritic hips knees and ankles it's difficult to take off the pounds

2.5 final total of snow and tons of sleet. Not bad not 5 but still not bad. Now we have moderate freezing rain Temp 30 Am I reading that ruler wrong? I don't see anything over 2 or 2.1" inches. How are you getting 2.5"?

We're often our own worst critics...were I you, Chris, I'd be very happy with the forecast I put out there and stuck with given the very complex nature of this system. Kudos to you!!!

Guidance was all over the place including during the event.

We'll have to keep an eye on the weekend storm for areas along and south of I-44. This is a pretty robust storm system. The dryline will track across the state and approach the area in the late afternoon. There may be some significant rain along the warm front and into the metro area throughout the day as well. The GFS was further north with the system than the NAM and is showing respectable amounts of CAPE by February standards so that's something to keep in mind even for areas of north of I-44. The GFDL's 3km version of the FV3 has discrete cells initiating in eastern OK and tracking through MO and into IL south of I-44. This is after the big push of rain from the warm front earlier in the day. Other areas of interest further from home are in Arkansas where I suspect a QLCS will develop and may be preceded by a lot of warm sector activity. Obviously it's too early to get into specifics but if you're making plans on Saturday then plan on rain and thunderstorms.
