No you absolutely should not, and I don't know what they get out of that. It must drive ratings but it just feels like seeding hysteria like most news outlets these days, on either side of the aisle. I have been saying this also. I don’t recall him forecasting snowfall amounts, just shows what the different models spit out and that is why I won’t watch him. Dave and Chris would actually forecast and use their experience, knowledge and skills to inform us of what to really expect. I don’t mind if he shows what different models show for the same period. Maybe it will show people how hard it is to do. How much knowledge and science is needed to interpret all the different data. ETA: sorry for all the ‘shows’

Driving into downtown. 55 in JeffCo still had some stuff on roads. Roads clearer as heading into city. Drizzle, almost to rain by the time I got downtown. Ick. Will see what it's like heading back in an hr or so

Nothing I can see on radar but just put food in bird feeders and a very fine mist in Arnold. Very fine in that it almost didn’t register but I could feel light dampness on the dog.

I saw Fox is letting out as we speak. I don’t have anymore in the district but still watch. After kids being stuck for 10+ hrs on buses a few years ago after that little ice I don’t blame the JeffCo schools. Any old timers know when Chris started his site? I know we’ve moved at least 3 times. At one point wasn’t it hosted on a Fox site in a different state? I was thinking my oldest was around kindergarten or first grade when I found the original. I remember at one time we were on the Fox Houston site I was thinking Houston! Then I thought, no you’re old and dreaming. Glad I’m not loosing it yet. Was thinking, 2006 it’s gotta be longer than that. Then I do math and realize that’s 15 years ago. Oldest would’ve been about 7 depending on the date. He’s in his last semester of college and back home student teaching at Windsor. Half a snow day for him!

1977 is the year we were out of school from before Christmas until the end of Jan. Just about the time we would be going back it would snow. Our district had to go 3 half days on Saturday until the MO legislature ok’d not having to make up all those days. By ‘we’ I mean Jefferson county schools and many other districts

Those cells around Cape G are nasty looking. I’d take those tornado warnings very seriously Son #1 is at SEMO. Texted they are evacuating dorms to the lower levels. This was about 15 min ago or so.

Got the call for Fox a little after 5. That’s 9.5 snow days this year. I really thought they would try for half a day.

Desoto is first JeffCo school to call. Waiting on Fox they usually pull pretty quick. I don't think they'll try to get a half day in.
Ah, they didn't disappoint, Fox called off Ice Day

I was wondering the same. Bridget is doing the weather. Wonder if he's sleeping in and going to be out on the roads later?

Beautiful coming down in Arnold. Under yellow band. Doesn't look to last long but pretty while it lasts.

It was cold and windy putting wreaths out for Wreaths Across America. Amazing to see the huge amt of volunteers out helping. Over 20k wreaths put on graves in about 1.5hrs. Twice as many as last year. Still 160k short.

For some of you young whippersnappers this blog started on the old Fox 2 website. I remember that community. This blog has helped me through my Dad's passing, and has helped my mom and sister out. Thank you all for your knowledge and thank you Chris for continuing this group when Fox 2 had to conform to the corporate website. I remember this on the old Fox 2 website, as well. Wow, hard to believe it's been such a long time. Please accept my thanks, too, Chris. I feel blessed to have been a part of this place over the years. I may not contribute much other than my weather reports up here in Pike Co, but I've sure appreciated and enjoyed learning many things here and being with all of you other weather lovers. I remember so many years ago too. Wasn't it at one point briefly on a houston site? It was somewhere weird. It's been so long and I'm getting old, maybe it's senility. I also don't contribute much other than what is happening in Arnold and that Fox district is one of the first to start the dominos falling for school closings in JeffCo. When Chris started so many years ago my oldest was in elementary school. Not sure of the year. He's now a junior in college and my youngest is a senior at Fox. Where does the time go. I blinked.

I have no idea how much rain we've had in Arnold but it's been pouring for hours. Not just pouring, but pouring-pouring. It's gotta be 4" if it's a drop.
ETA: Card will have a dbl dbl. Wonder when the last time for back to back doubleheaders

Speaking of the Meramec. The area by 55 has been underwater for 2 months. No exaggeration. I usually walk the 2 mile greenway trail every weekend with friends. It's been flooded forever! The tree leaves are turning yellow on a big chunk of the trees.

Any thoughts on timing of storms tomorrow? I have 6 tickets for Cardinal game and seriously thinking of not going and selling them. Chance of storms, traffic will be hell and of course most importantly watching the Blues game. Son #1 says he may still want to go with 5 friends but I'm not sure I want him going.

Could be a wild one at the ballgame today depending on which way the wind is blowing. I hope we make it back to the car afterwards before getting hit with the rain. I'll probably leave the umbrella in the car. Umbrella with 40mph wind gusts = futility.

Keeping an eye on this one. Son#2 heading back from a choir competition in Atlanta. The 2 buses are just east of Paducah at a food stop. Expected to be back in Arnold about 8:00 so they'll be hitting this on the IL side at some point. Hoping these are passed by the time they get into mid IL

Happy World Meteorological Day Chris.
In honor of the day (and Bing made it easy) I learned about fallstreak holes. Copy and paste of the Bing quiz: A fallstreak hole, also known as a hole punch cloud, punch hole cloud, skypunch, canal cloud or cloud hole, is a large circular or elliptical gap that can appear in cirrocumulus or altocumulus clouds. Such holes are formed when the water temperature in the clouds is below freezing but the water has not frozen yet due to the lack of ice nucleation (see supercooled water).
What I don't know is which of the various names is it known by in your world. Part of the info I read said they can be caused when a plane goes through. If anyone cares to comment to enlighten me further or is this above even correct.

Glad I could stimulate a little discussion about NE and how it will affect downstream. My friend's farm isn't flooded. They're in Columbus NE but they can't go anywhere.

Light sleet in Arnold. Got in my car and it's bouncing on the windshield. Tinkling sound. A little rain mixed in and maybe a few flakes.
ETS Brief and fine
