It went from zero to covered asphalt in less than 10 min in Arnold. I was outside with dog #1 when it started briefly as sleet, then mixed with snow to all snow and covered by the time I was done with dog#2. Very fine but pouring glitter

Chris, so sorry to hear about Daisy. Glad you could bring her home and love on her. Did the vet send Daisy home with steroids or other med to help her feel better?

This is hilarious and got me thinking. We should start using baseball analogy to help with the snow totals. Single = 1” or less , Double = 2”-4”, Triple = 3-6” , Homer = 4”-8” and Grand Slam = 9”+. Using that. The GFS is a 3 run home run I prefer hat trick

I'm sorry that would've been vital information Yes this is for Saturday. Shooting 5pm Saturday night Thanks Well... The Columbia to Jefferson City zone has a chance to find itself in the relative "snow hole" that I think will exist between the snow tonight...and the new snow tomorrow. I would think 1-2" is possible there...if the snow hold doesn't materialize...it could be more. The falling temperatures and strong winds will make even 1-2" of snow carry a pretty good impact. Thank you for the information. I was thinking that blowing on the highway could be worse than the actual accumulation. I appreciate all you do in our little weather blog world. I know I don't add much but love checking in and seeing longtime 'friends' posting.

Watching this storm from the standpoint of traveling to Jeff City. Fox Archery (son#2) has a tournament in Jeff City. They shoot at 5:00pm need to arrive at 4. Usually about a 2.5 hr drive I think. I'm guessing longer travel time with weather. Then of course need to get home. Any thoughts or help is appreciated? I really hope it's cancelled but I don't think it will be. Shooting for other teams is as early as 8am when it won't be bad yet. Is this tomorrow? I'm sorry that would've been vital information Yes this is for Saturday. Shooting 5pm Saturday night Thanks

These flakes are absolutely massive. It’s adding up very quick I was hopping on to say they same. Looks like tiny snowballs falling straight down. Street is covered again after plowing and melting. Temp 32.3

Did anyone else make french toast this morning? I used texas toast and 15 eggs! I stuffed 4 pieces into me. Hubby and 2 teen sons ate 18. Where do they put it? So yes, I got bread, milk and eggs on Thu in preparation.

Heavy snow currently Ill try measuring again soon Curious what you have since I think you're very, very close to me here in Arnold. The most I measured was 10" but I was at almost 9 late last night. I think quite a bit of compaction. Cammi loving the snow and her ball. Snowing pretty hard. Attachment Deleted

Just a touch over 4.5 in Arnold. Still coming down hard. 5.5” at 6:30 in Murphy 6:45 in Arnold a little over 7". I have a tote with a ruler taped to it but the snow is creeping up the sides of the tote and it showed 9.5". I knew that wasn't right. Measured in the middle and on a flat trash can lid next to the tote and got a about 7.25

Went to lunch at The Local House restaurant 1/2mi away. Jeffco and Telegraph roads are totally covered. Very slick out, more so than I would've thought. Almost no traction. Pre treatment doesn't seem to have done anything since the snow is coming down so hard. Grass will be totally covered in the next half hour or less

Deck is covered in Arnold. Grass white-ish. Both sons have to work at 4:00. I hope the company isn't stupid enough to stay open.

Vladi has also lost something on his shot. I think the league has finally figured it out and turns out its pretty predictable. Sorry, all. When things ramp up, I'll (we'll) get off the hockey talk. Until then...
Tarasenko had surgery after the 2017-2018 season to repair a dislocated shoulder. I'm willing to let that thing heal for a season. He's definitely not as physical as he's been in the past.
I'm ok with hockey! Hockey/ice; weather/no ice (please)

Fox district taking the earlier arrival seriously. Moved release from 12:45 to 11:45. We have 3 sets of start/end times for the schools because there aren't enough buses. The late elementary schools wouldn't have been leaving school until almost 2. After having buses with kids stuck on them overnight with that ice fiasco a few yrs ago they aren't taking a chance of that happening again.

It’s been forever since I’ve been online as me- I have been “guest” lurking. Stoked about this storm and blown away by the potential! My dilemma and it’s making my anxiety skyrocket- have a college football campus visit with my son at Millikin in Decatur IL at 945am. Getting there isn’t the issue- it’s getting back. We would be there until about 2pm and with dry weather the ride time is 2.5 hours....can we get back safely by 5pm or do I need to look to reschedule? I am 50/50 and I can’t make a decision to save my life right now. I'd say go for it. The storm is coming from sw so I would think most of your drive back would be ok. Maybe some snow as you get closer to StL. Those more in the know can chime in I hope.

School districts quickly calling half day. Just got the notice for Fox district. Even Kirkwood calling a half day and they are a district that rarely calls off school.

NWS Paducah has Perryville going snow to rain to snow still with nice accumulations. Idk what to think about that...hopefully we keep the subtle colder trends here. NWS PAD is not known for their winter weather expertise, no offense. I'll be keeping an eye on your observations and others south of Arnold. Son and niece, among others heading back to SEMO Sunday noonish. Thanks in advance for any info.

In honor of our first decent snowfall! Where mine tonight in tribute as well. It can only help;) Under my Blues sweater. Nothing better than watching the Blues while waiting for snow to fall and wait for Fox district to call off school. Still one son there. Other son at SEMO in the snow already

That's the one that came to mind for me. I was a senior in high school and it was the day before Thanksgiving. I was wondering if there was a way to sort through November snowfalls to see if there was a similar sized one any earlier.
Daily records for the month of November
I remember it too. My uncle had a snowmobile (it did snow more back then!) and brought it to my grandparents for Thanksgiving. We all lived in High Ridge. One of my favorite memories.
