Please make sure all your animals are in tonight or have adequate shelter. This cold is near record breaking.

Looking at the webcams in chicago it is amazing how much snow melted there today. You can see the grass at the lake shore.
Amazing what that strong easterly flow can do to that area.

Very strong windchill advisory for the metro with 25 below forecast. I thought 25 below was warning criteria. Maybe I am wrong.
Warren county says 25 below as well and they are under a warning. Im confused.

Ukmet is good for a few inches along and south of 70. I feel as if the ukmet may have been a decent model this week overall compared to others

I am definately concerned for damaging backside winds. Thats the big story with the temp crash.

I definately have a headache, and not sure if it is weather related because I rarely get headaches. I feel for you all almost like the bombing pressure changes are hard to acclimate. Very weird feeling. Even tylenol doesnt help.

This mornings run of the icon looks good for Sunday, and gfs is slightly better as well if I am seeing that correctly.

Id trends like the Hrrr hold like that its going to be a mess on thr roads, and with the winds could pose possible a winterstorm warning due to near blizzard conditions, not necessarily the 5 inch threshhold but due to the impacts.
In my opinion im sure I am completely wrong.
But I watch it due to being in the snow business

Maybe just me but some of the hi res short term models at the end of their runs seem to be speeding up the cold air slightly for friday.
Such as the FV3.
Am I wrong, or is that noticeable.
Im sure I am completely wrong but I am looking for that glimmer of hope.

Yes, I would prefer sunny and warm weather over the continuous dissappintments. One thing I will say is at least it has been interesting in terms of very low barometric pressure and strong wound up cyclones and not sheared messes.
Unfortunately we are the fine line in our area as always.

Thats true Snowman I forget about the insulating factor of snow.
Sheesh we are in the worst case scenario for winter weather

Maybe the bright side with no snow cover in the metro would be not getting below zero. As its harder to achieve with nare ground

I just want 1 plowable snow. I am in the smow business and these decisions to treat or not based on being on a razor thin line and always wondering if I did the right thing is extremely mind numbing.
