I mean holy hell. The euro and GFS couldn't be much more different on day 10. Euro has huge ridge building right over the middle of the country with very mild temps, while the GFS has huge arctic invasion taking control. Probably signaling some kind of pattern change then if they have completely different solutions. That’s a very good call out. I hadn’t thought of that aspect. Any algorithm will have issues when you change its pattern that it monitors. As a software engineer who loves AI modeling, I can’t wait to see true AI be used to build weather forecast vs “models” which by definition rely purely on history replaying itself.

Just thought this is interesting... 500 from 1982 compared to this one coming up is quite similar. Surface features are too... although the surface low is further north. There may be a 50 mile wide path of some big snow totals somewhere across MO I know 82 also started as rain. But was it a short time of rain and a quick transition or prolonged heavy rain fall?

What did the UKMET show for accumulation? Roughly 4-8 inches assuming upper air temps are cold enough. I only get surface temps unfortunately. It’s a whopper for what area and I’m assuming that’s the def zone? Based on those amounts I would REALLY hope the air aloft is cool enough or that would be a French toast situation for sure!

My sister, the physics teacher wanted me to ask you guys this...
Why do electrons gather at the base of a cloud creating a negative charge during a thunderstorm while making the top of the cloud positive? Why isnt it positive at the top and negative on the bottom?

Is the energy south of 44 expected to lift north along 44 or just run parallel to 44 and south of it?

MODOT might be tired of taking heat because they are out brining the roads in South County like crazy. They did last week also just so the rain washed it all off. They also turned it on as I drove past. Took 3 hand washes to get it all over 🤬

I'm one of those people that got in an accident. Currently have a cracked L3 and L4 vertebrae, hairline fracture in my clavicle and bruised lungs. Cops say I'd be dead if it wasn't for the seatbelt. WEAR YOUR DAMN SEATBELTS! THEY WILL SAVE YOU! Glad to hear you were wearing your seatbelt and are still with us! Best of luck getting back at it. Ps best advice ever. A state trooper has told me countless stories people being ejected from their cars and then end up getting ran over by their own car they just got ejected from because they weren’t wearing seat belts. This time of the year that’s almost as important as just slowing down.

My wife just sent me a text that her famously inaccurate weather app says freezing rain on Halloween. Told her it’s garbage. But curios what model even is showing that? I checked and haven’t seen any signs that say Ice.

I guess I better get snow equipment out and make sure it all is operational for another season. Usually try to get this done by October 15th but has been a very busy year so far. NOT YET!!! don't jinx us

The one along the IL/IN border on 4/18/2008 woke me up. I then woke up my wife, who had slept through it, and told her I thought an earthquake just happened and she said, "No it didn't. Go back to sleep!" My roommate woke me up and asked what the f*** that was. When he described it, I told him it was probably just a train. I had same experience except thought it was the lady’s down the hall shaking my loft bed cause I crashed with a bunch of people in my room that night , looked down and no one was there.

Guess it’s a good thing our weather is quiet up here so we keep an eye Dorian. I had a feeling I shouldn’t have posted that. Agreed. Im tired of flash floods now in Eureka, kinda like snow by April

Have in laws who live in high ridge at paradise valley golf course but we are down the Ozarks. Sounds like there was flash flooding to the point of some neighbors reporting 8 inches in less than an hr some time around 4pm. Can anyone post the fancy 3D radar around then?
Sounds like may have been a micro burst because of all the tree damage and flash flooding.
