What a wild pattern.
I've got a fire burning out in the woodstove waiting on potentially tornadic storms. Probably bring more wood in tomorrow...maybe dust off the plow.

Didn't expand any westward.

Didn't expand any westward. Nope in fact it shifted east a bit. Too early to say we're out of the woods, but the best probabilities are definitely well east of us.

This cold airmass is freaking ridiculous cold for April.
Combine that with the huge April moisture return and the ingredients for a major 6-12" snow is in order over a large Swath along the cold sector.

If you look past Friday/Saturday, the 12z gem and gfs both show phasing potential Sunday/Monday. It would be so awesome if one of these worked out to cap the season.

Just had a chance to look at the GFS...that's pretty crazy! But considering the intensity of the HP... not surprising.
What's really crazy is that not only might it snow... it could snow again with temps in the 20s. April snows are known for being very marginal...like 34-36...that is not the case so far.

12Z GEFS says "Yeah, let's do this thing." Ya that’s pretty solid 3 days out. Crazy that a storm in April might be the best shot for area wide snow

12Z GEFS says "Yeah, let's do this thing." 3-4 inches is an impressive mean ensembel total. Things get real interesting with a double dipping opportunity Sunday.

Front was crackin when it came through here an hour ago. Sharp temp drop, heavy rain and small hail. Lasted 10 minutes.

12Z Euro looks good for snow for south of I-70 and especially our southern members like toddatfarmington. Good Lord NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one I know down here wants that. That's horrible! We want to plant our gardens and enjoy some much needed outdoor time and sunshine. Winter's been going on for over 5 months temperature wise. I hate this crap. Tired of being cold all the time. I want Spring PRONTO!

Euro has crazy temps. Mid 20s at the surface and 850s in the -5 to -12C range.
Efficient snow making ratios right there.

I definitely want some beef in the metro area and double up those patties for the southerners!

From the last DISCO update...
"Ahead of this front, the atmosphere continues to destabilize. The latest analysis data suggests surface-based instability has risen anywhere from 1000-2000 J/kg across the region, with the highest values over southern MO. Deep-layer shear is around 50 knots, certainly supportive of organized convection. Think the cap will slowly erode over the next 1 to 3 hours, with convection become widespread along/ahead of the front later this afternoon mainly over western IL and southeast MO. All storm modes will be possible, with line segments capable of mainly wind damage along with some semi- discrete cells which could pose more of a hail threat. There is also a tornado threat which will be maximized with any discrete cells that can develop ahead of the front, where near-surface wind fields aren`t as veered and effective SRH values are maximized (around 300- 400 m2/s2). The convection will rapidly spread eastward and after 5PM the severe threat should largely wane across much of the region."

A watch has been issued with a 70% chance of 2 or more tornadoes. 50% chance for an EF2+. 70% chance for 2"+ hail.

This line has a little more chance to grow than I would like. Hopefully just a quick straight line wind situation.
