Yeah I've kinda noticed a down turn of severe weather around here too over the last several years. I have no statistics to back it up, but sure seems that way to me. As for this year, just about the slowest I can remember...though wasn't 2012 really tame as well? Svr does seem like its in a downward trend overall and especially during the traditional svr season. But i shld add that during Winter there seems to be an upward trend. At the very least, i might call it as more propensity to see svr during the winter.

Well, now the ECM, CMC, and GFS all have a tropical system entering the Gulf in the extended range. We'll see where that goes, if anywhere, in the coming days.

I really thought the severe wx season was going to pick up a lot for this month, boy, I missed that one. Deadly dull, lol. Seems like there hasn't been anything deent to talk about around here for literally years. Severe or winter. Well, except floods. Heh.

Wow! Chris is in doing the weather this morning, is in casual mode, and is outside at the grill frying BACON!!! Too bad it's not smell-o-vision!
Apparently pancakes are next.

But mother nature has a way of balancing things out. We had some really extreme weather starting in 2006 and lasting pretty much until 2014. It all balances out eventually.

Rain chances look quite a bit better today especially for the southern half of the viewing area with the low spinning to our south. Should be decent coverage at times.

Severe weather as a whole has been very slow to get going across the nation. I really thought once we broke the early spring cold spell we would see a rapid uptick in severe weather. No doubt we have been on a declining trend of severe weather, but as you said things tend to balance out over the long run

I would not be suprised to get some weak landspouty tornadoes today in the stronger cells given the background vorticity generated by the mid level low.

Chris, what are the areas most likely to see storms? I see the westerly movement and storms are now starting to fire further north of where they were this morning. Just curious.

Just got back from a couple of errands. Hit heavy rain on Mexico Road between Salt Lick and Mid Rivers. Temp dropped almost 15 degrees. Got east of Mid Rivers and everything was still dry. Got back home to hazy sun and temp was 83 again

Atmosphere looks prime Saturday late afternoon/evening... but models are fairly quiet - except the NAM 3k- for severe.
