Some development now over sw mo. All models agree so maybe it will be a stormy late night into the morning hours.

Don't see this in June very often. Jet streak coming around the base should keep storms developing

I sure hope to get in on some rain. Missed everything lately. Me, too. If I've had half an an inch in the last three weeks I'd be surprised.

Well, this is an interesting snippet from the morning disco:
The warm front will lift north Wednesday night as low level flow
turns to the west-southwest. The GFS spits out some light QPF after
06Z in response to the warm advection...however the ECMWF and NAM
are dry over our area so will hold off adding PoPs for now. Of more
concern is Thursday afternoon/evening. Both the GFS and NAM are
developing a strong MCS over Iowa, and then turning it southeast and
moving the system along the Mississippi River late Thursday
afternoon into the evening. Both models are showing some pretty
extreme instability with MLCAPE in the afternoon in excess of 5000
J/Kg ahead of the MCS track. This set up is reminiscent of the July
19th 2006 derecho which impacted western Illinois and eastern
Missouri. We currently have a dry forecast on Thursday and Thursday
evening and we still have a little while to watch this develop in
the models, but Thursday afternoon and evening could get very
interesting. Regardless of precip chances, it looks hot on Thursday
at the beginning of our heat wave with highs likely reaching the mid
and upper 90s. High humidity in the wake of rain earlier in the
week will likely produce heat index values in excess of 105 degrees
across most if not all of the forecast area.

Lots of lightning and thunder here, but only light rain. The bulk is JUST southeast of me.

Currently getting an deluge here in Arnold with non stop lighting and thunder. I didn’t want to sleep anyway

2.65" yesterday 5.68" for the month. Thunder in the vicinity. When the sun pops out, you'll be able to hear my grass grow.

This looks NASTY from Bloomsdale. I'm not willingly driving into that and choosing to sit here and ride it out a bit.

Idk, but if these storms don't stop developing out west and sw of here, there won't be much severe wx this afternoon.

Driving from Mascoutah to Arsenal was not exactly easy this morning. I love tropical rain... the drops were the size of tennis balls hahaha.

Again, the heaviest is south and east of the city.
On the bright side any problems this much rain causes on the rivers will also be well south and east of the city

Not sure how much severe weather we will see today, but flash flooding looks to be a real threat

I guess the cluster in central KS is going to blow up and race across the state? That will be the one to watch. In the meantime, more rain is developing over the southern half of the viewing area.

Thinking the severe threat today is pretty marginal but flash flooding is definitely a concern with multiple rounds of deep convection rolling across the state. Definitely not your typical late June pattern...
