Wow, with the sun rising and the clouds, it is pure orange outside. Never seen it quite like that. Not just the sky, everything. Weird.

With this happening like this this morning will that throw out a boundary for storms to fire later today now?

Suddenly they are re-energized with more cells developing and actually on the move toward us...
Had some very dense fog this morning on my drive into work, particularly in the Ste. Gen area.

This may sound crazy but do we need to watch that cluster in Nebraska for this afternoon? Maybe that's the one that was discussed the last few days.

Cell developing right over de soto. 3 claps of thunder and strange sounding thunder at that. It's like the sound is in a tunnel.

Now pretty constant thunder but of very short duration. I am thinking it is like some of the storms I see that skirt me just to my east, and I can see very short/quick flashes of lightning in the anvil. Getting more rolling thunder now. Storm must be growing. Some light rain has been falling also.

This may sound crazy but do we need to watch that cluster in Nebraska for this afternoon? Maybe that's the one that was discussed the last few days. SPC has issued a 'Slight Risk' due to the MCS expected to form from Nebraska complex, ETA between 3 to 7PM if it survives with the risk being metro St. Louis and points northeast north of the Missouri River. Looks like a noisy day is in store which could delay the heat especially along and east of the Mississippi River for one more day. Still will be humid as heck though.

CAPEs between 6 to 8K will be feeding into those storms, so more than enough juice to fuel them. Warm front nearby and possible MCS spells interesting day.

Our power just went out for a minute during this lovely severe thunderstorm in Festus! Lots of lightning and a tad bit of pea hail! Not a lot of rain!

I could see that derecho happening and being a problem this afternoon. I could also see it making a hard right turn and coming right down the MS river.

Storms dying to our northwest which could allow for re-destabilization of the atmosphere upstream late this morning into the afternoon ahead of the Nebraska cluster.

Our power just went out for a minute during this lovely severe thunderstorm in Festus! Lots of lightning and a tad bit of pea hail! Not a lot of rain! That storm is about to move right over me. I'll update you all with any reports of hail. Hope we don't lose power, our power was out on the 26th for about 4-5 hours before it was restored. Should be interesting to see what develops this afternoon from the complex.

First stronger cell missed to southwest and appears to be tracking towards my friend Perryville on here. Second cell looks to swipe or just clip me. So far just rumbles of thunder and rain here.

Why are we calling this a derecho? Its not even close to a derecho. Right now its like 1 storm in NE. Theres no talk of derecho anywhere. Lets cut the hype.

That storm near Omaha has all the cape in the world to work with. But those toasty mid level temps might be it’s death sentence soon

I think the chances probably are better that it falls apart but there is that outside chance it punches through and takes on a life of its own. That mid level warm air may melt it away just as easily though.
