If you are looking for something to do this weekend, come out and pay me a visit at the St. Louis Science Center as I take part in the National Weather Association's WEATHER READY FEST. NWA is holding their annual conference here in St. Louis next week and in advance of that conference, they are holding WEATHER READY FEST... to engage the national weather community with the St. Louis community! I will be there showing off the Fox 2 Storm Runner all day. The event is Saturday, August 25th from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM (although I can only stay through about 4 PM). Tickets are free, but must be reserved online through the event website. RESERVE TICKETS HERE

Saw this am that Lane is a Cat 5, and there is not enough space in emergency shelters. Hope the state and county officials out there revamp their disaster preparedness after the storm is gone. If my husband and I still lived out there we would have to go to a shelter, our house was original to the base and there were no interior rooms save 1 small closet.

Reports of a foot+ of rainfall on the big island...very dire situation developing for Hawaii. If Kilauea was still erupting as much as she was earlier, would this much rain have caused atmosphere problems too?

The Euro just caved to the American models regarding Lane. It shifted the track 260 km closer to Hawaii at 48 hours.

Looks like rain out west is fading and moving southeast. Hopefully the rain that comes in later will be good.

If the NAM is right tomorrow morning... PWs well above 2" and warm cloud depths well above 10000'- should see very efficient rainfall.

I'm feeling pretty good right now about the northwestern part of the area getting some decent rain.

After Weather Fest, come on over to Gateway for the Indy car race. I’m going to have some BIG surprises for fireworks on the parade laps, and post race.

My Guess is a line of showers and storms moves through, early/mid morning that lasts maybe 30-60 minutes. Definitely not the decent large area rains expected. We'll see.
Edit:..a line followed by more scattered stuff it looks like. Might last a couple hours, hell..maybe 3 in spots. Kirksville has had over 3 inches since midnight.

I feel like I'm mowing 3 times a week. This rain and then lots of sun won't help that either. Cannot wait for the cold!

Good to see some of the microdrought areas got a good soaking this morning. And of course the southern tropical areas got a good one again too. I'm sure it'll start drying out here soon as we head through the boring month of September and into early October.

Glenn reported some areas near Truman Lake got close to 6“ this morning. Small wonder there are flood watched and warnings in that area now.
