As to the question about the tropics...that is a huge yes. There is no doubt the tropical development is at least part of the reason the pattern is backing up. This Thursday system reminds me of the Thanksgiving snow of 1980... November 27th...Developed in the GOM and lifted almost due north as I recall. It had more cold air on the backside...and was being fed by a deep diving jet that plunged down its backside. Ya I just had a feeling that was why we were seeing the weird scenario? So you think this might work out in our favor if this energy keeps pushing west in the Atlantic, Chris?

Last time I recall seeing something similar was in Kansas City around Halloween back in the mid/late 90s I believe.... think they had 8" in spots. Many power outages.
[/quote] This is a bit troubling. With our fall so far behind we're going to have quite a few trees and still have leaves on them. Probably not much different than what it was like in Kansas City around Halloween that year

Most of the Trees other than the Oaks and Obvious Evergreens are between bare and 50-70% bare so unless you've got a lot of Oaks around near lines would I see power outages or limbs coming down an issue.

Any chance that Thursday system could drop some snow around Lake of the Ozarks?

So the gem euro icon and nam all have very similar output dropping 0.50-0.75" of snow qpf along and SE of 44-64.
With the GFS, FV3 AND UKMET showing nothing to a small event.
Given this being a closed ULL.
The GFS historically under amplifies these scenarios.
We'll see.
I hope folks over the SE part of the metro don't get hosed again.

I’m glad a lot of you saw snow today. We’ve been seeing the tiniest of flurries and must for about an hour. I’m thinking the forecast for my County is a bust.
