The classic pre-storm panic Happens every system almost like clock work. Gotta love it

I just want enough to call off school, yet still allow me to get to my deer stand at daybreak tomorrow!

i wonder if stc gets warned more because on the shape of the county. i can still see a sharp gradient in snow totals from one end to the other...shld actually say a bit more sharper gradient as im seeing a faster fwd speed on the bowling ball.

Except for down here where nobody lives ..... Yep. Not sure how their graphic shows us smack in the middle of the 4-6” area but yet we are not given the WSW. Crazy.

I think St. Charles county gets warned because every single model except the GFS shows warning level snow 4-8”. I think that is very likely, most models have the pivot point right over STC with no dry slotting .

And we are under a Winter Storm Warning.
Also who wants to bet when we are settled after this wave. This will be the only snow we will see this season.

At least its not the last 3 terrible winters anymore. It's been since early January 2014.....that was the last noteworthy storm. A pessimistic outlook would say we will have the next one around 2021 or so

Pretty Great map for about 90% of us. Not a bad little November surprise.

Just got off the NWS conference call. 5-7 inches STL proper, out here in Sullivan, 3-5 inches. Max centered just east of the Metro. Onset 6-9pm today for MO, ending in MO noon to 3pm tomorrow. Slight concern for areas that receive 6"+ due to leaves still on the trees...localized power outages are possible.

Let's not even mention that the EPO and NAO are forecast to tank over the next two weeks.

Slight concern for areas that receive 6"+ due to leaves still on the trees...localized power outages are possible. That is one thing I was thinking about. This is going to be a wet snow and so many trees are still filled with leaves. I have an apple tree right now that looks like it's in mid summer form almost.

Let's not even mention that the EPO and NAO are forecast to tank over the next two weeks. in the past an early cold outbreak presented a concern of draining the artic. thats not the case this year. we are also more prone to spinning up storm system this year. i think we see more winters with higher snow totals when it snows in november. trends in teleconnections wld favor addl snow. i wld bet against this being a one off event this year.

With clouds now socked in and a NE breeze I doubt we get above freezing today. That will make 2 days of below freezing temps so the snow will have no problem sticking on surfaces including roads

It is awesome to see this come to fruition. Whether it snows in your back yard 5 inches or 2, this storm, this early, this far south is a thing of beauty and why I personally love the weather! I, like many on this forum, understand the frustration of having and not having. We certainly have a lot of not having. But I have said this many times and continue to believe that getting mad over something you have NO control over is a waste of energy. Just my two cents. I have milk, bread and barley water and will use some PTO tomorrow so I can enjoy whatever happens. Have a great day y'all!
