Guess nobody wants to talk about the Euro and now 18z Gfs showing a low with perhaps a little cold air to work with Thursday night eh? Likely cut off with a similar result to what's happening now but something to sort of watch.

Likely cut off with a similar result to what's happening now but something to sort of watch. Models are really trying to amplify the trof overhead with that feature...although I suspect if it comes together it will be too far east for anything significant here. It does bear some watching though.

Sure is a shame that the current storm had no cold air to work with...wind straight out of the north with a nice deformation taking shape...a rainy deformation.

Only if it was December, then it would be cold enough for snow.
Oh wait.

It's barely raining under these heavy radar returns btw. What's up with that?

It has been a steady rain here. Radar sure does look pretty too. Another oddball storm. This is the second rainy deformation zone in 2 months. The first was in Oct so that's forgivable.

Hahahaha! I remember snowmans rant. Thanks for sharing!
Long range models keep showing some stormy weather across the nation Christmas week. So it could very well be a Merry muddy Christmas or perhaps some other flavor precipitation....

Looking at the radar makes me wonder exactly how many ways are we able to get screwed. I mean, have we really added them up

Its 10 days out, but the models do at least show a marginal shot of mixed or frozen precipitation around Christmas.
The SSW event will set the big pattern change for January (with the realized effects probably really getting going around the 10th).
But, late December could yield just cold enough temps as we wiggle our way out of the Pacific stream.

The radar is perfect... it’s December and it’s freaking rain....absolutely stinks.... snow hates us down here lol I was thinking the same. The stars need to align perfectly and I need to sacrifice a live chicken to get a couple inches of snow down here, but if a butterfly farts in India, it's going to drop 2" of rain in my backyard.

On a side note, helluva finish to the Blues game tonight. I about burst a blood vessel over what I was absolutely sure was a BS call. Even tweeted Kerry Fraser about it. Turns out it was the right call after all. Lucky for us...Raff Out Roud saved the day.

Turns out it was the right call after all. Lucky for us...Raff Out Roud saved the day. Jake played pretty well too. 3 goals on 42 shots isn't bad and he made some really nice saves. He's either dynamite or...not. Maybe these two OT wins will finally light a fire under these boys. You could kinda see it tonight.

As much as it sucks, we saw this coming. We knew the milder pattern was going to come into play a couple weeks back and more rain than frozen was to be expected. That doesn't make it any less of a bummer, but I'd rather have this now than have it in January/February when the true heart of winter is to be. Hopefully we will see the teleconnections play out and have these types of deformation zones and storms work out with the cold.

I'll say it again... If it's not gonna be snow than I'd prefer mild and dry. I hate this muddy mess this time of the year.
