Looks like it's pivoting. Just SE of me might get it good We have moderate snow now. We'll see how long it persists Sadly we still have rain south and east of you.... I have been at 33 degrees since 6:30 and have had over a half inch of rain... One shovel of this slop we have must weigh 20 pounds.... really starting to worry about structures down this way

It snowed here for several hours and I'm sure it was accumulating on the snowpack but the bare pavement only received a thick dusting. It was also above freezing.

I may be coming late to the party on this one. Was that 20 inch measurement in Montgomery City verified? I saw the map a few minutes ago on the news, and the other measurements around the area weren't really close. Angela said it was a weather spotter measurement though.

Went to dinner tonight at Kemoll's. The clouds obscured the view and we could see the cloud deck was about ten floors below the restaurant. As it changed to snow the cloud deck raised giving a decent view of the arch grounds. One thing i noticed was the pathways on the arch grounds were clear. Anyone know who was able to get that done in the shutdown?

My totals so far.... 6.125" 11pm 1/11/19 1.125" 9am 1/12/19 This was from overnight snow. Could have been a little more before compaction. 1.5" 10pm 1/12/19 This was from the def band that gave bororug 3" and Potosi 3.5". I wasn't in the sweet spot, again . I would have rather not had the rain (Mr. Obvious) but hey, this was a blast to track and I still got 8.75". Thank you again, Mr. Higgins. This blog is awesome to be a part of. And welcome to all the new members. You will find out or you already know, this is an awesome place for weather lovers. Back to #1 in our rules, What's next. ..

Fv3 has that storm although a bit further north for next weekend. It just needs to dig a bit further south. 😉
Hope we get another big one!

What is the north/south oriented blow up of radar returns from 70/64 heading due south. It looks like some of the orographic development with artic outbreaks we get when the flow parallels the Mississippi If it holds together I may need to update my totals.

Euro still has a major ice and snowstorm here next weekend

Not to get to detailed at this range, but Euro has a crippling ice storm for the southern half of the area and a huge snowstorm(1-2 feet) for the northern half

The euro and Fv3 are in pretty good agreement for this range. Both look pretty similar. Euro just has the low and cold front a bit further south

Steady light snow here. Few burst here and there. Radar isn’t too bad up north and looks to be dropping south.

Steady light snow in Wentzville sticking bell. We should get a good .5-1” today out of the band dropping in .

Took a first look at next week's system with a cursory glance at the EURO and man, is that a ripe looking setup for another major winter storm! Textbook setup with upper confluence and arctic ridging across the Upper Midwest/Lakes and a potent shortwave/upper low ejecting out of the 4 corners region. That's one to watch closely for sure!
