Looks like the deeper lift is moving in here and FINALLY overcoming the stubborn dry layer...it's been salt shaker all evening.

The fv3 is cold too.
It's also much wetter in the morning and overnight along 64/70.
But nails the metro in the morning keeping us all snow with an additional 3-5" tomorrow.
We'll see

Im not sure how many from this board live in tc. Some nws personnel live in dardenne but i dont think they live in tc. Little Oaks is nice. I live in The Cedars. Welcome to the neighborhood. Thanks! I’m pretty sure Dardenne mentioned living in that neighborhood as well. Only reason I asked. We’re excited to say goodbye to Lindbergh and hello to K. Have been out there multiple times and different times of the day/time and it’s by far better than Lindbergh where I live. It’s a nightmare. Make sure you get a copy of the indentures. They do enforce them to some degree. Over the years, I've gotten letters to paint my fascia's, and power wash my siding. I personally don't like the indentures and we are voting on a new set of indentures now - I voted NO because I didn't like the wording. But don't want you to be surprised. There's a twin chimneys group on facebook if you are interested in joining. On another note, I have really appreciated the city of O'Fallon - they've plowed my culdesac twice tonight and avoided piling the snow up by my mailbox. But this time, I've kept the path around my mailbox clear. If I don't clear around the mailbox, they aren't that diligent. Not that we will get mail tomorrow, but...

Observed snowfall at 9pm We have 7" But compaction city now. I don't care tho. Love it. The short term models really go ham but are warm near the surface. They are notoriously Warn duirnally. We'll see. That yellow that gave you a good inch+ seems to be about right with what you have there and me, your 7 to my 5.7ish. Crazy what those little bursts do to the totals.

Looking at traffic - Hwy 40 is basically still a parking lot both ways from I-70 all the way to 70 Wentzville - Is this possible?

Not sure I've ever seen sleet on top of snow. Should be interesting. Welcome to Perryville:) Growing up in Cape Girardeau, we got some monster sleet storms. Oh the sledding was so fun. There were a couple 4 inch sleet storms that stick out in my mind...December of 1976 comes to mind...that was the winter in which we regularly got below 0 in January - well below, like -18 and -16. On that note, I still think February will be our meat and potatoes of our winter. This is the soup and salad phase...maybe more of a bisque. If the airport gets 12, that should bring the winter total close to 18 or 19. Then I would expect my 24 inch winter forecast to bust on the low side. The offhour gfs earlier this evening had trouble phasing some of the future storms the next couple weeks, but I'm thinking that run was an anomaly. The GFS seems to be saying, "maybe not a specific storm, but I got St. Louis in my sights" .

As BRTN mentioned it has been slow here all afternoon-evening. Measured 2" when I went out to stoke the fire for the night. Just looked out, maybe a quarter inch more,( where I cleared the walk). Looking forward to the morning!

He and his wife love it. I remembered that you had told me that, but figured that was better coming from you. I like it too, except, now that the kids are older, I wish I had a 5 acre lot. My kids grow up, move out, and buy big homes on 5 acre lots in Foristell, and I'm jealous.

Not sure if any of you follow Reed Timmer on Twitter but he was stuck on I-44 and got out to walk around and did some filming. Pretty crazy! I think it being so long since a major winter storm hit the area a lot of folks were probably rusty on their winter driving skills. Also hard for MODOT to keep up with road conditions when you have rush hour and heavy snow combined. Of course it’s gonna snarl traffic

Chris, help me understand...I've been watching the zone forecast for St. Charles. At one point around 3 today, it said, total snow accumulation of 15 to 17 inches. Then this evening, it said total snow accumulation 13 to 14 inches. Now, it says total snow accumulation of 10 inches. Is this flawed, or is the accumulations being cut back, or is it computer generated? Can you clarify?

6.75" in Marissa. Looks like about 30-40 minutes of nothing, then it should pick up again.

Heavy snow now. Gotta be close to 7". Really hope I can reach 10". What do you think Frivs? I'm sure you will before it's over. I don't think we change to rain in the morning. And the models show precip hitting us pretty good
