Both the zoo & botanical garden closed today. I remember going in the late 70's when I saw only one other guy with a camera after a snowstorm.

Have to worry about possible structure failures in areas that see ~1.5" liquid equivalent snow...that's a lot of weight on roofs.

That nudges into MBY and I've only got half that so far...don't think it will verify here. Here as in your area or in our viewing area? Somebody is probably going to see 15" from this...but not IMBY. I'm hoping for double digits by tomorrow but not holding my breath. Still a great storm...historical for sure...just not a big boy yet here in my neck of the woods.

M 10.0 dardenne prairie at 10 am. Compaction has begun so it is unlikely i will add much to that total.

Monroe Countians--what's it doing over there with this heavier band? Was all snow. Curious to see what this next batch moving up from the south brings.

I have to be honest...I don't think the snow is going to add up very fast today and I think there's a possibility of rain even for us in St. Charles County. I'm near Hwy 94/364 and Jungermann Rd.

I-44 is still a problem traffic wise. Listening to the scanner MoDot sent plow/salt trucks the wrong way down the interstate again in the Eureka Pacific area. Traffic is trying to cut through on old 66 and that's jammed, too. Also heard that trucks were trying to cut through the backroads to get to Washington and Union and jack knifing in the vicinity of Dutzow.

Whats making the difference with the rate of accumulation today compared to yesterday? The temp right now here is almost the same as it was yesterday when the snow started and it accumulated fast. Just curious.

Models have a bit of a progressive look to them in regards to next week. Very strong arctic airmass may squash things. Still some snow around. Maybe we can get it to slow down and get cyclogenesis at the base of the trough. We will see what king Euro says.

I measured between 10.25" and a little under 10.5". Average comes out to 10.25" so far. I am on the northeast corner of Babler State Park in Wildwood.

Im not going to hold my breath for next weekend. Not that I have inside info or anything, but it is pretty rare to get 2 big storms like that so close together. Even in the 70's, they were generally 4 inch snows if I remember right. I do hope that I am wrong though!

Measured 11.0" this morning with the heavy snow picking up again. I'm suspecting there was compaction overnight because that doesn't make sense. given my last measurement before bed last night. I suspect I'm sitting at 12"+ judging by how dense the snow was on the driveway I used my snowblower on.
And I loaned out my blower to my neighbor who has a big driveway and only a shovel. Let's hope he doesn't break it.

I don't know if I found a snow hole or had a lot of compaction, but I only measured 7-8" in various spots (north St. Charles). I did not take interim measurements and clear so again compaction could be an issue.
