Steady at 34 for a few hours now. I hope we drop back to freezing soon and put more snow down.

Big flakes, and lots of them, falling in North County. About 33 degrees.

If the RAP/HRRR are right we should begin see some snow showers develop with a bit better coverage along or just south of I-44 between 3-6pm. NAM is not as robust however. To be honest I'm a little skeptical we see more than an inch this afternoon/evening. But I'm also one of the conservative ones so who knows.

beaker have you gotten much since this morning? I too have had several periods of decent snow. Even right now I have large flakes but it's just not adding up. I've had 1" or less since 8am. It's 33F at my house. my depth has stayed the same. I'm guessing compaction is fighting whatever is fallen. That's why my storm total turned into an estimate of 11 inches. I can kind of tell the fresh snow because it is fluffier. I agree, no more than an inch though even though I've had a couple brief intense showers. That's what I'm seeing, too. I've had several good bursts. But my depth is staying the same or even shrinking a bit. With the high moisture content if we get really cold this snow is going to get rock hard.

Snowfort complete! It's big enough for two kids to stand in, maybe four could fit if they were sitting. I am going to go crawl into a corner now and try to survive the inevitable pain the next few days have in store for me.

so are we buying the deformation zone actually (a) developing and (b) hitting the metro? I'm perfectly happy with what we have being "it", but another several inches would move into epic-territory

so, I'm going to guess on 1 to 2 inches of new snow imby overnight as the cold air filters in - Kind of feeling like 2 is really too high, but I've been surprised with these deformation snows before so who knows. not me, I'm guessing.

We could have hit our elusive double-digit snowfall if we hadn't changed to rain today. The drought continues...

Based on some reports, I wouldn't be surprised if someone eclipses 20" in East central Mo

I finally looked at the next weekend potential, it really looks good and there is a ton of model consistency already. The EPS and GEFS are very similar. We’re basically 6 days out, by tomorrow morning when this storm pulls away, we might be going right back into model worshipping mode. Maybe take a day or two off to recharge

Based on some reports, I wouldn't be surprised if someone eclipses 20" in East central Mo I was thinking 16-18" earlier but 20" wouldn't surprise me if this deformation comes together early enough for the western counties. Sometimes nocturnal cooling flares up these mid-level systems, so we'll see what happens over the next few hours. The radar looks like it wants to backbuild/fill in ahead of that next slug of moisture and lift with lots of showery cells bubbling up.
