So a 1 day arctic blast followed by 4 days near or above 60. That averages out well above normal. That is just sad. Our epoc february is going to start out so far above normal and muddy that itll be hard to finish below normal. Wheres the cold fron. Its almost 30..again warmer then expected. Big difference between what it took to cool January down and what it will take to cool Feb down. Forecasted above freezing highs during the warmup barely make it north of I80. The snowpack probably retreats to around I-74, but not much further north. It won’t take much, especially since average highs are slowly creeping upwards as the month progresses. Highs in upper 20s, lower 30s still are a few degrees below “normal”.

A couple of sharp bursts of fine salt shaker snow. 21 degrees. It stopped. Partially coated, but that's generous.

Posts all over FB are reminding folks to bring your animals inside. I agree 100%, but also don't forget to plug in your diesel!!!!
I fed mine some Howes additive to keep her from gelling up and put her winter coat on!

It is pretty rare to see a windchill warning in the metro and this far south.this while fast may be a top 5 coldest day on record tomorrow overall. That's saying a lot since records go to 1880

Am I the only who would prefer that it not be 7/-6 for extended periods of time? Maybe I'm just getting old.

NWS disco already mentioned that a return to winter temps will likely occur by midweek next week. So the mild air of the weekend and beginning of next week won't last. Calm down you winter lovers.

Hey WSC. Is it cold enough there to throw water into the air and make snow? I think you have to boil it first, but yeah. I got hit with a 40 mph wind gust on my commute and it gave me a brain freeze lol. I'll look for some cool stuff to try and hopefully get some good pictures of the lake.
