You have to keep your eye on these little fgen bands. They can be sneaky, especially when it’s this cold

This is without a doubt the most impressive arctic outbreak I've ever seen in my lifetime...wow. A station in IA recorded a WCI of -60*F!

Yeah looks like except for northern MN and the Dakotas, the snow is going bye bye. Warm weather and rain will do that.

Amazing how this is one of the biggest outbreaks in history, located pretty much where others have been, yet st louis will be nowhere near any records, like in 1985. No snow cover helps.

That's a pretty narrow band..probably similar to the one that will be around or near our area tomorrow. Good luck forecasting that, lol.

Kuchera has us at about a 23/24:1 ratio. That's some fluffy feathers coming down. Almost mountain type champagne powder

Haven't looked at the qpf but the hires nam looks fantastic South of 64/44.

Haven't looked at the qpf but the hires nam looks fantastic South of 64/44. The nam is still pretty dry considering the pretty sick acent with this. If I ignored qpf. I'd think the nam would be showing like 2-4" along 44/64.

down to 6 at 3am. This 1 degree an hour isn't going to cut it. Unless the temp drops well after the sun comes up, which is possible.

WWA from 3pm to midnihgt, for up to an inch of snow, lol. Along the I70 corridor. Better than 40s soggy. Or this cold and just dry. There is solid chance we see more than one inch. The models have serious issues in these situations. This clipper has pretty solid vorticity.

NWS has cut the low temp to “only“ -1. They're reporting snow at the airport so their must be enough of a cloud blanket holding the temps away from the -5 original forecast. Still does nothing to improve the wind chill, though.
Also there's now a winter weather advisory for Wednesday evening to Thursday morning for possibly an inch of snow. That little band you guys have mentioned has caught their eye, too.
