I didn't realize until last night that next Sunday we spring forward and go into DST. It's been the second Sunday in March in recent years. But it just seems early to me. Kinda' snuck up on me.

COU dipped to -1. I'm sure if the high settled overhead and we lost the wind contamination we would have broken our record of -5.

You’re still the same height!

Thursday could be interesting. If nothing else, snow could be falling much of the day but will definitely have a hard time accumulating.

Is there a way to compare the current snowfield to other marches. I mean as far as percent of the lower 48 covered for this time of year. Sorry probably dumb question?

It's possible this was already posted, but the airport did officially report 2.3" yesterday. This brings our total for the season to 24.1".

I don't know if it's official or anything, but California's 7 year long drought has finally ended at least as defined by the area of the D1+ conditions.

Euro continues to be really weak with the Thursday system. Brings some light rain and snow showers to the area and maybe a dusting to an inch in Northern Mo and Central IL

Euro has no trouble hammering Iowa/Wisconsin with another blizzard though.

Looks like the euro also wants to bring some severe weather to the area Saturday afternoon. Decent CAPE and dewpoint temps showing up with a favorable track of the surface low to put us near the triple point

Thursday still has potential for anyone along/N of the MO river in MO and 70 in IL. Could drop a couple inches of wet snow before turning over. GFS is in its own world with that system...every other model is weaker and further S/colder.
After that it looks like we will get into a rainy/stormy pattern. Saturday looks like more of a rain storm vs. severe storms around here but bears watching.

Gfs has had this solution for days. It will nail it

I have a feeling once Spring eventually hits here, we will see some pretty big storms. Alabama Tornado yesterday rated an EF4

If it’s not going to snow here in St. Louis who really cares if it’s central Illinois, Chicago, Iowa , Nebraska, Kansas , Wisconsin, Arkansas. We have been very fortunate, I love snow, but I’m totally sick of it. High school baseball /track and soccer has started and we have snow covered fields. I went out for lunch today and it was miserable, the cold is ridiculous for March.

Yup...I remember last year, with all that crazy cold at times, thinking what a number it would do on the bugs and then ran into the worst ticks ever last spring hunting morels. Then, the mosquitos came and were thick. It's like the cold made them reproduce in greater numbers... Really seems to all be about that spring moisture. A drought all spring would do wonders on the bug population I would think.

If mosquitoes and other biting flying bugs can survive the winters in Alaska, Northern Canada and other Arctic regions our winters don't have a chance.
