There's a mping hail report very near me. I did hear a few pings of small hail but it wasn't much. Pretty good rain and tons of lightning but not sure the storm met severe criteria here. Definitely there was no wind over 35mph.

Had some decent gusts to what looks like 45 mph as the trees swayed a bit for a time. If there was any hail it was too small to notice. Looks like it weakened/cloudbursted right overhead. More cells trying to pop over Missouri so perhaps not quite done just yet. Likely going to struggle though now with the atmosphere turned over.

I will say this, the HRRR/3KM NAM nailed it in regards to precip density and placement. Couldn't of been more spot on.

CAMs were really aggressive with the warming into this afternoon last night, and 3km soundings from last night we about as loaded as you're going to get this time of year. The front certainly slogged, like trying to light a stack of dried wood with a damp match. We eventually got something out of it.

I swear I hear sirens coming from belleville direction... I'm watching 2x2 and they did go off somewhere in St. Clair County as the met was trying to awkwardly explain that there was no tornado threat and they went off as an outdoor warning for the wind/hail.

Looks like the outflow from the storm to the north of me caused some lift. So now, storms are popping to my west. 🤗

Anyone else notice the last 2 hours or so are radar over St Clair County you could see high clouds streaking from Southwest to Northeast. in real life from Swansea Illinois looking towards St Louis you could see these very high clouds they were dark moisture-laden clouds. They basically stat stationary right along the east side of the river from Monroe County up through St Clair County. Then all the sudden this thunderstorm complex reaches that area and blows up. I don't know what's going on but you're not going to convince me that those two things are not completely linked On radar it looked like an outflow oriented in a sw to ne line slowly drifting nw. Once the storms hit that line they intensified and the warning was issued

Strengthening right as is moves into Belleville. Might be another shot at some dime to nickel sized hail. That or giant drops.

I will say this though this batch of storms was considerably more electric than the first batch with more cloud to ground strikes too and less cloud to cloud. No hail or wind to speak of though. Rain was coming down hard almost blinding for about 2 mins at the height with decent sized drops.

And a check of the latest radar shows that this could be training for awhile. Not as intense but rain with thunder until at least midnight.

Radar says about a half inch of rain has fallen so far. And even without a gauge I'm almost willing to bet about 3 times that has fallen so far or closer to 1.5"

This event I'd hate to say it performed way above mine and probably most expectations. A nice surprise indeed. Now the grass is really gonna explode.
