Hey BRTNWXMAN, AccuWx added the off-hour cycles of the ECMWF. It's also now available in 3-hour increments though that may have been there already and I just never noticed until now.

My wife was in Minnesota a few weeks ago before the snow melted and said snow depths were unreal. She said driving on divided highways was weird because there were long stretches with "snow walls" on the shoulders and median that made you feel like you were driving in a maze. She said the locals were really tired of it so I don't think they are going to be thrilled with this storm.

How much will this add to the flooding from the north? Simply unreal! My husbands, bro and wife live in Rochester and they are so tired of winter!

My friend in Council Bluffs just posted the new flood warning just issued for them because of the heavy rain they are getting.
It just doesn't want to stop.

Looks like another strong wind event across Missouri on Thursday.

Looks like capping and marginal low-level moisture will limit the severe risk across the Plains along the dryline but there is a small window for strong/severe storms around here Thursday as better moisture arrives.
I think the bigger story with this cyclone will definitely be the gusty winds...and of course the biblical blizzard across the Plains/Upper Midwest. Would not be surprised to see some 20"+ totals across NE/SD and possibly into MN as well before the storm becomes strongly occluded and fills.

Doesn’t seem there will be much severe weather with this one- surprising for April

Yeah, models don't have the deeper moisture arriving until the front gets to the OHV...if it slows down which is possible if not likely, that could change.

00z Icon just about pulls off the STL to Chicago major winter storm on Sunday.
If that thing rapidly strengthens and pulls north like the euro has shown a couple runs we could see a very rare event.

A Facebook friend of mine found a NOAA balloon today. It has a box attached to it. I assume it is a weather balloon. Would it have a GPS tracker on it? It had a return address to the Kansas City area. Thinking NWS. It has a return postage paid on the balloon. I didn't realize they used such small balloons. Do they get real time data from the transmitters or do they use GPS to find them and pull the data off?

Those balloons are fairly small to begin with...but they get huge at 60kft before they pop!

I found the first black morels of the season today...absolutely gorgeous day to be in the woods! I checked my early spot Sunday (top of a tall ridge that gets lots of sunlight) and was surprised to not find anything. This warmth will really get things going though. The cool rains (not snow, no way) on Sunday should serve well to prolong the season. Still concerned about a late freeze at some point.

All models now trending towards something on Sunday.
It would not surprise me if an area between KC and Fort Wayne saw snow.
Also, the euro has another bomb cyclone next week lol
