Mother nature has shown one more time that MO has been the jackpot this season...it's been a consistent tease here on this side. But still nice to see some flakes break through...a nice contrast against the neon green grass.

Strong winds (which I slept through) appear to have been associated with a wake low/bubble high couplet that developed on the southwestern fringe of the WAA precipitation shield. In a stunning display of modeling... the HRRR actually captured this set-up....which I will post here in a little bit.

Think I'll drive out to the west end of Jersey to one of my spots and see if I can't find some morels with snow falling...always wanted to do that.

Here you go... pretty clear cut. The meso-low/wake high is obvious in the modeling. Likely tapped into some of the stronger winds just off the deck too...helping to mix them down to the surface.

That was easily one of the top windstorms I've experienced. Neighbor lost a big oak...surprised the power stayed on. Wild day of weather!

That's pretty amazing...what was the lead time? Going back as far as I can on the HRRR on pivotal weather...and it shows up in runs at least 4 hours prior to the event. Doubtful anyone would have noticed it at the time.

1.65” of rain and counting .... On another note, did find another 150 white morels yesterday before they drown That's awesome. I've finally got some time today so I'm gonna get out to some of my spots. I'll report this afternoon.

Just passed 3 horses on the loose just off Rt. 67 at Delhi Rd...tree must have taken out a fence.

8mb drop in 15 minutes strongly supports the wake low scenario.
Excessive tree damage is due in part to the unusual wind direction. Trees are conditioned to the southwest wind... not northeast.

Deja vu all over again. Lost another willow that I had replaced after the July ‘06 derecho took down a full sized one. Saturated ground & strong winds this time. The line behind it is a “dry” creek bed that spills over in heavy rain. From its fallen direction, looks like wind came from the northeast.

Yeah, that qualifies as excessively soggy.
