I found about fifteen morels in Farmington a couple of weeks ago. I have hunted the same spots there every Tuesday and Thursday since the end of March. That was the only time I found several in the same area. Since then, I found big yellow one foot off of a trail, and one tiny gray and that is all. Spent about an hour in the woods last night in Jeffco and found nothing. I am a noob. Probably walked past hundreds of them.

I've found about 200 this year. 50 of those were nice big whites/yellows a few days ago. My normal spots on my farm are petering out since all the ash and elms have died. Fortunately I have other spots. It hasn't been the bumper crop I expected but it's been solid. I just don't have the time to devote to it as much as I used to either when I averaged 6-800 per year. Had my fill though and enough to give some to my aunt so it's a successful season.
Strangely though, my black morel honey holes produced only 4. That's normally good for at least 100. Seems like it just skipped right over the black phase again this year.

Given the veracity of the snow where we are right now, and this isn't the heaviest it is forecast to be, the roads from downtown to Elk Grove were surprisingly good!

About a half inch already. Not sure we make it to 8. Maybe liquid equivalent, but not stacked on the ground.

Hey look more rain on the doorstep. I've noticed a trend this year of the models underestimating the amount of moisture in the medium range. Then as we get closer it turns out to be more. This pattern is a stubborn one. How has your mushroom season been overall? Between the past couple days I've picked 6 pounds but it's been fairly spotty and you really have to hunt hard to pick poundage. Most trees are only giving up a few including prime dead elms so that tells me it's not a great season. But it's noticeably better than the last several so I can't complain. I’ve personally had the best Morel season ever. I’m at 572 Mushrooms already. Average about 80-100 every hike out.

Looks like Avengers shattered just about every record there is at the box office this weekend. Made 350 million, which is insane. 1.2 Billion worldwide which is more insane. I haven't seen it yet, probably next weekend when crowds die down at least some.
Here are just the domestic records:
Biggest opening weekend – $350M
First film to cross $300M opening weekend
Fastest film to $100M – 17 hours
Highest Thursday previews – $60M
Biggest single day – $156.7M (April 26)
Biggest all-time Saturday – $109M (April 27)
Biggest all-time Sunday – $84.3M (April 28)
Widest release ever – 4,662 theaters
Biggest IMAX Marvel opening weekend – $26.5M

Tuesday looks like a busy weather night across Missouri and Illinois. Yeah if I had pick one time right now for the most significant weather I pick Tuesday night as well. But in general looks like a very active week of weather coming up with showers & storms likely Monday morning thru Thursday morning. Flash flooding and severe storms both appear to be possible during this period. Tuesday and Wednesday look like the more interesting days for strong to severe storms and flash flooding but this is going to be tricky to get a handle on up front with all the convection going on. SPC and WPC outlooks are highlighting areas to our west and northwest Tuesday, which is reasonable, but as you know I wouldn't look at these risk areas too rigidly at this point. While most models bring the warm front all the way up to northern MO Tuesday evening I actually wouldn't be surprised if storms and remnant outflow fights the northward push some and bring the focus of storms a bit south. I think Tuesday afternoon into the evening has some severe potential somewhat dependent on the location of the warm front and or outflow boundaries given the strong shear in place and surface based instability. And then Tuesday night into Wednesday flash flooding may become bigger a concern along with a continued threat of strong to severe storms. I can see some potential for training storms on the southern flank of an MCS like what the NAM is hinting at. Then things may reset and destabilize for another round of strong or severe storms Wednesday afternoon/evening with the trough axis still upstream and a warm moist sector still in place.

That was a good deal of rain that just missed the city to the north Sunday evening.
And now the wind is cranking again. What a windy late winter and thusfar spring

Will that batch of rain out to the west make it here or will it do a disappearing act this morning?

Will that batch of rain out to the west make it here or will it do a disappearing act this morning? It's definitely petering out right now but some showers should still slide through. Hopefully not enough to screw up your work day. I know I'm backed up from last week with my jobs and this week is going to be tough as well.

so besides this small-ish batch coming through early, does the rest of today look mostly dry? curious because I have some work going on at the house late this afternoon and it can't be a wash-out day for it to happen.
