What’s today looking like for strong, severe storms in SE Missouri? I have to take my father to the doctor for some minor surgery soon.

LOZ basin had a widespread 3"-6" of rain mostly in a 4 hour period. The lake has risen over 2 feet over night and rising fast with the dam wide open. Impressive amount of water for a lake that is 93 miles long and 1200 miles of shoreline.

Amazing NW to SE gradient with the rainfall so far...models captured that well. Ya here in west Belleville we didn't get nearly the amount of rain areas just west of here did. I dont have my rain gauge my out currently, but looking at weather stations around here we received about .65"

What does the precipitation situation look like for the next couple of weeks? Are the rivers going to get a chance to go back down? Or are we expecting another heavy rain event soon?

Was meaning to ask about Meramec state park We watch river levels very carefully, we start taking action at 10 ft level... parts of our campground start going under then and visitor safety is our first concern. Trust me, we catch a lot of flack when people drive over the bridge and see our picnic area high and dry, but drive over the ridge and campsites are under water, roads are impassable, and water is everywhere.... I've worked along that river for over 25 years and trust me folks, no two floods are the same... unfortunately.

We always track our levels with the NWS graph and they seem to have changed in recent years. Every new house/ road they build by the river changes where and when the water goes.

We have an excellent working relationship with the hydrologists at NWS, and if you notice when their flood warnings come out they will even state when we take action. The river gauges are the major portion of their prediction, but they use the the info we provide in those predictions also. Kinda funny but we don't like to use the "F" word.... Flood is a bad word.....lol

Add another .71" from last night/this morning according to the Davis on the roof in north St. Pete on the bluff. From the Noah sketch by Bill Cosby "How long can you tread water?" I don't know if there would be trees in the way but you would have a great location for looking at the Mississippi River valley with a web cam for Chris to use.
