In other news, it was almost 80* in Seattle this afternoon. Are we in El Nino? My experience is, if the jet has moved south over the SF Bay Area, they get hammered with rain and the PNW gets to grill steaks on their backyard decks. I used to have a friend up there call me up doing just that and gloating, while I was getting PNW weather and growing moss on my north south east and west sides.

Wearing my Goldschmidt jersey proudly through Chicago today and for the next 5+ years.
Looking at the models I am feeling an April fools snow.
I really do think flakes will fly one more time with some accumulation possible.
Then we flip to warm quickly by the 2nd week of April.

It's gotten little attention in the news but it sounds like Cyclone Idai which made landfall in Mozambique Africa last week was really bad. Deaths are over 500 and suspected to end up much higher. Widespread catastrophic damage and flooding as well.

Happy World Meteorological Day Chris.
In honor of the day (and Bing made it easy) I learned about fallstreak holes. Copy and paste of the Bing quiz: A fallstreak hole, also known as a hole punch cloud, punch hole cloud, skypunch, canal cloud or cloud hole, is a large circular or elliptical gap that can appear in cirrocumulus or altocumulus clouds. Such holes are formed when the water temperature in the clouds is below freezing but the water has not frozen yet due to the lack of ice nucleation (see supercooled water).
What I don't know is which of the various names is it known by in your world. Part of the info I read said they can be caused when a plane goes through. If anyone cares to comment to enlighten me further or is this above even correct.

Models still showing hope for one last snow next weekend.
Would be nice to see some heavy snow and then flip to mid 70s and baseball.

I have fallen into a trap... I have been sucked into "Game of Thrones." Not a series for the easily offended or weak of stomach...and definitely not one to wqtch with young members of the family...or my saintly mother. But, it is still captivating. In two weeks, I have made it through 3 1/2 seasons. I need to stop...and take a break lol.

I've seen different articles saying contradictory things.
If the clouds give us a break (which I realize is a long shot, at best) is the STL area in the part of the country where the northern lights might be seen tonight?

First half of April is looking potentially very soggy for us with things trending wetter in the extended along with a favorable MJO for precipitation. Could also be a couple bouts of severe weather as well with the southeast ridge surging north and a deep trough developing in the inter-mountain west.

I was able to see the aurora IMBY several years ago but it was just a faint red glow on the horizon.

GFS is super active from next week on. Not good news for the rivers. It's been nice to be able to walk in the yard the last few days without sinking.

Best show on t.v! We are just finishing season 5 now. CANT WAIT until the final season. Although we are also sad that its ending. But there is a prequel in the works! You have seen nothing yet Chris!!!! Just wait! 😜
