Short term models are starting to show more of a severe threat in the metro tonight. Soundings and severe parameters continue to look favorable if any convection makes it into the metro

Tell me about it! I though the damage was pretty darn extensive to trees to be rated that small. Tornado path is now posted. It was on the ground for 6 miles.

This looks rather interesting: Moisture bias is over cooking the CAPE though...dewpoint is 6*+ too high.

Something to keep in mind with the EF scale and rating tornadoes is that the scale is a DAMAGE scale. You can only rate a tornado based on what it damaged. It is an assumed fact that many EF5 tornadoes go unrecorded or under rated because they simply did not hit anything that triggers a rating that high...like the tornadoes in KS and OK... It may have 200mph winds...but if the tornado goes over nothing but corn... guess what... there is no way it gets rated more than maybe EF1... because there are no other damage indicators present that support a higher number. It is a flaw in the system for sure.

It looks like there was a bunch of failed initiations, but the new initiations along the KS/MO are looking better. The batch over there looks like it might be starting to get its act together. I'm little worried that by the time this stuff makes it near Jefferson City and Columbia it might be a nocturnal threat.
