This event reminded me of the devastating flash flood that hit union in May of 2000. Only thing was this was much shorter duration. Back then we had about 14-15 inches in 6 hours. This was about 6 in just over 2 hours.

There’s a 6.13” report from Creve Couer and a 6.50” report from Granite City. That’s a lot of rain

So the 10 day forecast is looking dry. Whose taking bets on how many times it will rain during those days. Seems like everytime the models show it will be dry, we get several "surprise" rains.

We were there for July 4th one year and watched fireworks over the lake from only a slightly lower vantage point. It was very cool.

We're riding the eastern edge of the ridge next week...will be surprised if we stay dry with the sneaky NW flow in place. But it's going to be a slow process for the low-level moisture to return so we should be dry for several days.

Looks like Scott Connell was promoted to chief met at channel five. About time, should have been done long ago.

Looks like Scott Connell was promoted to chief met at channel five. About time, should have been done long ago. Chief met over there has been a revolving door since the pretzel left. Not sure if that's a reflection of the station management, the ratings, or the people they have been putting in the position. I agree. Scott Connell should have been given the job when the pretzel left.

What radar app, free or paid, is the best. I'm going to use it on a Galaxy s10. Thanks in advance!

This weeks weather is waaaay better to unload a truck full of watermelons 🍉 in...
Last week was brutal I hand loaded & unloaded 24 (600#) bins of south east Missouri watermelons 🍉
I'm doing that again tomorrow but On a low humidity 80* day and I'm so happy lol 😂
Today is tomato day I got to go over to central Illinois for a few pallets of local Amish/Mennonite tomatoes 🍅 And Other Local goodies!
Hard to believe Halloween (and my season) is over in just about 3 months
Even harder to believe My baby will be 2 years old in September with my 2nd baby due in December
I joined this group way back in 2006 (17yo)... time sure does fly
I'd like to thank you all for putting in the hours to read models and help guide this bunch of weather enthusiasts through each cold front!
I look forward to many many more years of fun! #LetItSnow

I'm guessing yesterday's rain caused the pollen count to explode. I'm feeling it in my eyes and nose big time this morning

Street crew is down in our cul-de-sac fixing part of the circle that got washed away yesterday. The guys said there are a lot of places around town where that happened. It was quite the mess.

This is definitely beautiful for any time of the year, not to mention the last part of July. The question over the next month or so will be how often do these cool fronts (even backdoor fronts) give us relief? Pattern still looks fairly transient so we may luck out and not see any prolonged severe heat waves.

There doesn't seem to be much movement in the large scale pattern so I wouldn't expect any significant or stubborn heat for the next couple weeks or so.
