This is horrific! I hope it weakens before it gets to my area. I think I'm in a bit safer location south of STL.

Quick glance at the Meso Analysis pages and there is plenty of shear and CAPE available over Eastern MO. A sample of my area had helicity values of 250 m2/s2, bulk shear of 60, and SBCAPE of 2500 j/kg.

This is not over yet...the air STILL feels funky up here in Troy even after two rounds of strong to severe stuff.

Other than some distant lightning, thunder, and a few rain drops it’s been quiet here in st Clair.

Prayers for Jeff City. The storm that rode down I64 as I drove into work this morning was the heaviest rain I have ever seen. Was a bit windy and some great CG lightning strikes. Probably going to avoid traveling through there to get to the lake today. May avoid the lake altogether.

Just spoke to my friend at Jeff City fire department and it’s as bad as it initially sounded. Searches still progressing
I should clarify, as bad as initially reported in relation to damage, not injury or fatality reports that were coming out that were erroneous

is that stuff that seems like its moving up 44 from southern Missouri going to move into the metro today? I REALLY needed the forecast for "dry" at noon to be true, I need it not raining between about 12 and 2 today, badly.

For people on here that have been hoping for better severe weather set-ups around here, you got it. Multiple back to back days of it. Careful what you wish for.

Yeah these trips to the basement are getting old...my legs are tired, lol.
I can't remember the last time we've had back-to-back tornado warnings/mesocyclones like the past couple days.

LOUD thunder and vivid lightning woke up the family, so I was dealing scared kids for that marathon storm that came through. The radar looked not so good at one point as the batch moved in overnight -- there was this trailing 'hook echo' type deal that looked way too concerning, but we were under a severe thunderstorm warning at the time. So I was watching that, pacing, almost making the game-time decision to go down in the basement, but we stayed put. The wind was crazy, and there were a number of close strikes that kept us on our toes. rain was out of control.

The State Track Meet was scheduled in Jefferson City beginning tomorrow. My guess is it will postponed since the tornado went pretty much over the venue.
Even though I have reverse 911, my cell phone by the bed, and left the computer on last night, I slept with the TV on all night. Figured if I had that on, I could quickly check what was going on, and where, by the graphic at the bottom. I only get concerned about severe weather at night when we are asleep and I cant keep track of it.

State track meet? Seems late. We always had ours in early May but that was back in early 80s. 4A?
