So here's your "things that make you go hmmmm" ...moment of the day. From Houston.

RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX 845 PM CDT SAT JUN 29 2019
...RECORD SNOWFALL SET AT HOUSTON INTERCONTINENTAL YESTERDAY...
A SNOWFALL RECORD WAS SET AT HOUSTON INTERCONTINENTAL YESTERDAY OF A TRACE (T). ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT SNOW... THE SITE DID RECORD HAIL WHICH IS DOCUMENTED THROUGH THE SNOWFALL VARIABLE AS DICTATED BY NCEI. THEREFORE THIS RECORD OF A T OF SNOWFALL STANDS FOR HAIL RECORDED AT THE SITE. THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS SNOWFALL RECORD OF A 0.00 PREVIOUSLY SET IN 2018.

Yeah... see... it is rules like that which eat away at the credibility of weather records in the minds of the average john-q-public.

Speaking of hail accumulation, did everyone see the pics out of Guadalajara Mexico with feet of hail in the streets? I imagine a lot of that is runoff from roofs and street flooding etc., but still...wow.

This is incredible.
Just had a bolt is lightening a block away.
Now the skies are clearing to the West with heavy rain, flash flooding, and hail.
At Macklind and Hampton.

That storm isn't moving much, either. That same area of south/southwest city and county could end up with more flash flooding issues.

MCVs make me a little nervous drifting on their own in the middle of the night. They sometimes like to ignight with nocturnal convection and then just drift around dumping tons of rain from slow moving storms. No signs of that here...at the moment...but something to track.

Bit of thunder, lightning, and rain down here on Tablerock Lake. Storms seem to be building up over the lakes and drifting north.

75* dewpoints the last couple days...muggy for sure and today was especially bad with cloud cover and limited mixing.

Can we expect more coverage in storms starting today and through the rest of the week?

Last few runs of the HRRR have widespread convection around here this afternoon Yea I've noticed that too. And its usually pretty stingy so there may be some decent coverage today aided by the little wave entering SW MO.

Storm kickoff has begun. Trigger seems to be the intersection of the river convergence south of the Missouri River and minor temp discontinuity left behind by dissipating morning cloud deck....or just south of Missouri River. Things may get rocking and rolling pretty quickly based on the explosive look to the towering cu.

My cummulous are starting to get the dark gray bottoms to them. No thunder that I've heard yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if I get some any time

All kinds of boundaries all over the area. Will anything significant fire up?

All kinds of boundaries all over the area. Will anything significant fire up? Very weak winds through the column...tough to get anything organized with that which favors pulse storms and showers.
