Metro St. Louis looks to largely miss out on tonight/tomorrow's rain and we get 2-3 'cooler' days before it's back into the blast furnace once again through Early August. LOL!!

Almost looks like the eye of a hurricane just west of Farmington We're in Gulf Shores, but I had guys texting me that they wouldn't be in to work this morning because of the storm. So I checked radar and said the same thing. Even has a cluster of strong storms in the "eye".

Looking back at the 00z runs from last night, the models didn’t pick up on the heavy rain event in the metro at all.

Looking back at the 00z runs from last night, the models didn’t pick up on the heavy rain event in the metro at all. Models didn't pick up on the MCV that developed along the frontal boundary(the "eye")...that created a localized area of strong moisture convergence and lift along the 44/70 corridor.

I have clear blue skies moving in from the northwest. Not overhead yet but probably will be in a half hour or so.
Dardenne Creek in Old Town St. Peters also took a big jump this morning. Was at 14' feet when I last checked the gauge info on line. Flood stage is 18 feet. Wouldn't surprise me if it gets close to or a bit over flood. But it probably won't get high enough to inundate much more than the park and ball fields on the bank opposite Old Town St. Peters.

Any elk sightings? The day we went there they were roaming all over the town. People were being idiots and going right up to them to get selfies. I heard later on the news that some guy got seriously hurt that day...

I meant to go check on that but hadn't had time. Was that across the board...ECM, GFS, HRRR, NAM, etc?
Anyway, just another example that despite considerable improvement in modeling over the decades there are still (and will continue to be) major misses!

Looks like across the board. I noticed the HRRR started to pick up on the potential late last night but basically a miss for it as well
