Storms firing around the Lake, but moving ese it looks like, would stay south of here. I guess we'll see what happens the next couple hours.

My son and I just got home to Festus from our Bonne Terre cabin! Lovely storm this pm! Bro in law rolled in from CO safely! He was totally thrilled driving across MO all day in the rain! Hopefully he and my hubs can crash and catch up before the next storm rolls in!

Guess we might get something this evening after all. Things look to be slowly blossoming out west. Slow moving too. Which is NOT good for the local rivers.

Wow, OKC under a warning for 70mph winds and ping pong hail. That's nuts.
Nature, you crazy!

Models and ensembles, as well as the official NHC forecast track, are bringing Dorian right up next to Florida in 5 days. It appears a strengthening Bermuda high could even steer it right into Florida. Intensity forecast still looks very tricky too.

No rain for the next couple of days, please. The guy showed up this morning to seal our driveway. We've been waiting to get this done since July 1 but it's been raining so much they are running that far behind.

Looks like a quiet stretch of weather coming up around here. Anyone have some ideas to pass the time on here?

As of 8/26 the airport record 41.53" which is the highest ever year-to-date value.
We've had 0.45" so far on the 27th which brings us to a total of 41.97" so far.

If we only get average precipitation through Dec 31st... this will be around the 5th wettest year on record.

A 9 minute rain delay in Milwaukee for the Cards/Brewers game. The roof was open and it started pouring. I remember at the start of the game they said it was a beautiful night for baseball, the roof is open. I wonder if 9 minutes is a record shortest time for a rain delay. .

Not only is it not the shortest rain delay in MLB history, it isn't the shortest rain delay in Miller Park history. They had a similar incident in 2012 which led to a 7 minute rain delay.

GFS keeps Dorian off the FL coast and scrapes the outer banks of NC then out to sea. GEFS seem to be further west UKMET looks like it comes to a crawl over the Bahamas. EURO has a landfall sig. hurricane on the east coast of FL, then into the Gulf barely, with a 2nd landfall in the panhandle of FL. Then is a carolina coastal cruiser. EPS is kinda ill defined but looks like a track across FL as well.
So as usual, fantastic agreement.

NHC track has Dorian just off FL coast late Sunday night as a 100mph hurricane. In the discussion they mention further increases in intensity forecast is possible. This looks to be one to watch carefully over the holiday weekend.

Can we just freeze today's weather for the next 2 months? Nice crisp morning with the doors and windows open, followed with a dry air lower 80s and plenty of sun...This I could deal with for a good length of time

Yea, this is starting to look pretty serious. Lots of time for it to intensify unfortunately. Time it spends over the islands will have a big effect.

Yea, this is starting to look pretty serious. Lots of time for it to intensify unfortunately. Time it spends over the islands will have a big effect. Yeah, with the latest forecast track further towards the right, land interaction is minimized which could allow greater intensification...but it also increases the odds of a recurve offshore approaching at a higher latitude.

Dorian became a hurricane at 1PM CST. Looking healthy on radar out of PR.
