Looks like a pretty strong tornado did some damage in NC earlier. Some video of it as well and a pretty substantial twister for a tropical storm/hurricane spawn. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6yVNPSJV4o

Did anyone post the video of the HH flying through the eye of Dorian? It's out there--I found it on YouTube.

12pm update increased to 115MPH It was 115 all morning. Preasure is rising a bit and winds have decreased ever so slightly... and reintensification has ended. Looking at the damage from Grand Bahama is so aweful... truly incovievable.. Ya i think we already knew how bad this Hurricane was going to be. I mean a top CAT 5 at basically a stand still is THE WORSE CASE SCENARIO! So unfortunate for those in the Bahamas. đ˘

looks like all the pieces are lining up for a nice batch of elevated t'storms Sunday morning.
Good upper level jet support, nice little shortwave at H5 and a good fetch of moisture from the Baja & Pacific.
Soundings are saturated as well. Nice to finally see something more synoptically-driven than the wild MCS train that's been endless all summer.

Ok... I think the past few days have been the longest stretch of non precipitation days since the first of the year. I dont dare call it a trend yet though, because Mother Nature has ways of making things up.

Here in Ballwin, I've been hearing planes overhead all day. Most of them have been headed towards Chesterfield. It's either planes coming in for the airshow (they sound huge) or there is practicing going on. Whatever it is, the kids are working quietly, so you definitely can hear them!

Honestly this has been one of the coolest summers ever. Humidity has suckef but the hottest it got all summer at the airport is 97. So really a summer without ever hitting 100 is remarkable. I work out in it everyday and it has been the easiest to take summer in years in my opinion. Only downfall was the excessive humidity.

Mean (Meteorological Summer) MAX temps for 2019 at KSTL - 86.8*
Puts this year at spot 72 of the last 146 years of data-keeping.
Looks like we were pretty darn close to average.

I guess now that the Hurricane is almost done with. After this little heat wave. Any signs of Fall after it?

Was it the summer of 2015 that was so cool? I remember a "year without a summer" around then where it rained constantly with a persistent NW flow. THAT was a cool summer...

We havenât had the long, drawn out heat waves that are common around here in the summer. Also havenât had the dry heat spells. Had some really nice stretches of weather in June and July too.
If you look at things, the last 12 months have been so ânormalâ to me. Winter was normal with a reasonable amount of snow and cold, we had an actual spring that came on gradually like itâs supposed to, and summer has been quite typical, though wetter. Itâs the first normalish year in a long time which has been a nice change of pace.
Having said all that Iâm not looking forward to this final heat wave coming up. Can not wait for the first fall front.
