It was the lack of cool spells that i brand this summer...perhaps lack of extreme temps altogether. We normally get some temps in the 70s as well as temps close to 100 and with the pattern, im a little surprised we didnt get more cooler days.

If it wasn't for the weekly 4 to 6 inch rainfall storms this summer, this summer wouldn't have been too bad.

Looks like the first batch of storms will slide by to the north of the city maybe catching Troy and almost certainly Louisiana and points north. But the area west of KC would seem to be more likely to come through the city...if they hold together

Sweet shelf cloud pics! I’ve got some really cool gravity wave looking clouds down here. Looks and feels like fall..you’d never know the heat wave was coming.

Its a shame about all this rain and more rain coming...this has got to be an impact on the air show. Are there plans to cancel it today?

This little rain event has certainly over performed this morning. Keeps with the trend.
Unfortunately the muggy factor just went up substantially for this week.

May be delayed a little. We went yesterday and it was great! spirit-airshow.com/There is a Twitter link here, too. www.facebook.com/SpiritOfStLouisAirShow/

Rain has stopped here. Not sunny, but much brighter. Ceiling is lifting and the clouds are thinking. So hopefully the air show will be a full go

Thanks for the link jeke. Hopefully the ceiling doesnt impact. I was on wb 64 yesterday and saw the traffic heading in yesterday. You're welcome. The Angels need an 8,000 ft ceiling to do the "high show" and assume the F-22 needs the same. Don't have a clue about the others. Stop by the B-25 and say hello to Woody. he would appreciate it. That plane flew yesterday along with the B-17, and B-26?

The premliminary YTD total for 9/8 is 43.86". This puts us just slightly ahead of 2008 which had 43.73" YTD.

However...that was even before Ike hit on 9/14/2008, so we are going to fall back behind the 2008 pace.

First few days of bow season looking a little warm but nothing crazy I'll take mid 80's only hunt till 9-10 am anyhow this time of year and don't even go out till 5 it's usually cooling off by then & I'm in the woods of course plus by a lake Its always windy and a bit cooler...
These next few hot days are crap for keeping Mums and fall plants watered we have to hit them 2x a day this week
Long term it does look cooler on the horizon but a ts or hurricane could alter that real quick

GFS pushes out a lot of baroclinic progression throughout its run. May be an active end to the month across the center of the nation.

I'm seeing some eye-brow raising death estimates being floated (without attribution I should add) by the Bahamas Press...i.e. thousands. BP doesn't strike me as the most reliable news source though. However, official Bahama government sources have already been saying for days that the final toll will likely be far higher than current counts.
