Mixing with sleet now and intensity picking up a bit. Question, experts: If it's sleeting and snowing NE of StL where the Dry Air Monster is, why is it that to the southwest, the dry air is still winning out? This is one of those questions I could never understand...the whole donut hole scenario -- where it's snowing all around me but not on me. Like there's someone w/ a giant hair dryer sitting above South County...

The urban heat island pulls moisture out of the air and other pollutants cause nucleation to slow down

Upper 20's holding tight across eastern MO. Let's see what happens here the next hour or two as the big push of precip appears to be consolidating into a more substantial batch and moves in.

I always forget about Rosie's foot until someone brings it up.

I don’t understand. We all knew dry air was going to be hard, if not impossible to overcome until after morning.

I’m not being pessimistic, I’m clearly stating a fact. I’m well aware we will eventually saturate and precipitation will break out , but with the ground reports south west of us (basically nothing) that could be a couple hours . Most of the models last night did not show the precipitation completely evaporate well before St. Louis . I’m sure it will get here eventually. I just wish it would hurry up!

The dewpoints are in the upper 10s to near 20. The temps will cool a couple degrees to the wet bulb temperature if anything when the precip comes in and intensifies. We are not going to see rain on the leading edge haha. Though, one thing to note right now is that we may have 2 hours less of good ice accretion than what last night and this morning's models were portraying.

The worst part of the storm winter weather wise was forecast to happen between 4am and noon in my area...it just didn't happen. Some very light ice accretion and about 10 pings of sleet has been it and now it's 32* in Osage Beach.

This reminds me a storm in the early 2000s. We were supposed to get all of this snow and ends up hardly anything. Dry Air Monster won. The donut hole never filled in. This western radar edge of the donut hole looks to be retreating more! Crazy.

I just dont believe it is going to happen. When i saw the strength of the high pressure last night. I had a gut feeling its over. Which is good because is plpw drivers dont want Ice and we still got to pre treat.

If you looks at this mornings NAM run the prime icing time is noon to 3pm with less ideal icing conditions from 3 to 6
