Upon further review, just plain drizzle in Vinita Park. The only thing that has ice is my tonneau cover. Everything else is just wet--cars, railings, etc.

Amazing watching this lead Fgen band get destroyed through Central Illinois.
Those things are stout and the DAM is unfazed

I think we may see significant ice build up for a time on trees amd powerlines until 7 p.m. but I think roads will be great as i know my team and the whole city salted the living crud out of the roads

While my office is downtown, we have folks who drive in from all over the metro and I am trying to advise the boss on whether to close early to give folks a head start on getting home. So far, we have had VERY little precip, and there is some doubt about whether it will just rain or if we will have several hours of the frozen stuff before we close up shop at 5:30.
I have been watching reports of pavement temps, and it seems like they are going to stay warm enough to make any icing on the roads (other than elevated surfaces) a non-issue. Not to mention the products that have been spread on the pavement.
What do you guys think? I understand that while there may be a limited amount of glazing on trees and power lines before we switch to rain, that looks like it will be the extent of it. If the roads are going to just be wet, there really is no reason to close up shop.
Interested in hearing the short-term forecasts through early evening for the immediate metro.

My crappy outdoor remote thermo stopped working...But, moderate rain and it is freezing on tops of objects...concrete driveway just looks wet. 1 to 1-1/2" long icicles forming off of the boat tarp and exposed hitch. That surprised me. Feels cold. 7 miles west of De Soto.

I should also note that right now, MODOT has all STL metro interstates clear. Seems under control....

Just a cold rain in Waterloo right now. Never saw any snow or sleet. I have a temp of 34 though it is likely closer to 32F since my weather station usually reads a few degrees too warm. I can't see any icing issues down here unless evap cooling can drop the air temp a few more degrees. I do have a RH of 67% so the temp should cool down some.

Steady light rain in WashMO. Don’t have a functioning thermometer at the moment. It IS freezing in contact though. Just Elevated or all surfaces? Just elevated. Sent one of the boys out to get mail and he said it wasn’t slippery at all. Sorry I didn’t clarify that earlier.

FWIW, I'm keeping my guys until 5:30 unless something changes outside.
