The #EastTroublesomeFire has jumped the Continental Divide and is now burning thru Rocky Mountain National Park with evacuations now extending into Estes Park! Can 2020 be over already?

My supervisor came back last weekend from 2 weeks camping off of 125 in the middle of what is now the East Troublesome fire. He said there was one night he thought it was the lights of Denver, the fire glow was that bright. He is lucky he didn't leave a week later, or else he would have had to evacuate or worse. He said he would now have to find somewhere else to camp and hunt.

Obviously named due to vicinity near Troublesome Creek, but such a fitting name...for many fires.

wow... that 18z gfs is so fantastically freakin' close to a monster groundhog-day-esque event. If that polar jet just slowed down and dug JUST a bit more...
That upper level setup is something.

If next week’s setup is any indication of the winter to come it’s going to be a headache.
I know we talked about it last year that a significant ice storm was due.
This piecemeal approach of kicking out waves along a fairly stable boundary is getting me on high alert.
I’m on record as saying the northern Midwest is in for a big snowfall year. I think the STL region gets a significant ice storm in the next 3 months.

Would tend to agree, WSC...we're about a decade overdue.

Swear to God, put a fork in 2020. Ending it with an ice storm would be terribly perfect.

I think the STL region gets a significant ice storm in the next 3 months. Agree. Confidence is high that upper midwest is in line for a banner year wintrywise. This is a good setup for ice here in the lower midwest. La nina also supports winter tornadoes. Arkansas mets are already talking that up and if we get some amplitude in a western trough, that cld on one or two occasions draw some severe storms up to the lower mo valley. Thus winter will be exciting, i think. I know others on here are cancelling winter because of the ever dependable cfs, but i think this will be a busy one.

Tied the record high yesterday at 86*F at Lambert Airport. This ties the record set in 1946.

12Z is such a tease... ICON looks interesting with a hurricane in the gulf combining with the upper level low/surface low creating a wound up system.

GFS and UKMET still continue to show at least a chance of light snow north Of I44 Monday and Monday night. ICON shows a similar setup. GEM is north and west a little in northwest Missouri, the EURO is the warmest with very little snow in far north west Missouri. It’s probably a cold rain but the gfs and Ukmet have been very consistent with their further south east solution and colder profile.
