little to no signals defined wintry pattern on any of the globals... MAYBE something from the GFS after the 20th... but until then near or above average. Meh. Music to my ears...let the ice box load up

It is quite dark here in North St. Pete. The highest wind gust so far according to the Davis on the Roof is 35 mph. His suggestion was that it is a good kite flying day.

Wind battling to be from the south or the north. It has definitely started to cool off and the clouds here are dark and moving fast and look amazing.

Pretty good storm in Godfrey...45-50mph gusts I'd say and torrential rain. No thunder.

sheesh, this part of the nation can't catch a break. Parts of that line looked like a miniature Aug 10 derecho as it rolled thru N central IL twitter link not working in the forum.

BRTN, will this be our drought buster? I suspect the rain will dry up or split and go around us. No way...we'll be lucky to get a quarter inch. Good call! .24" here

Got some good snow cover built up in Alberta and Saskatchewan and into Montana after a Sunday/Monday snowstorm/blizzard. Watching videos looked to be substantially more than a foot deep. Should provide some structural support for cold air if we start getting some Alberta clippers.

Really no cold air or interesting weather in sight. Looks like another big warm up starting in a week

Really no cold air or interesting weather in sight. Looks like another big warm up starting in a week It's nice to have "normal" conditions for awhile. The chill right now is my favorite for running, but not as much for road cycling (the past 8 days was perfect for road cycling)! Right now it's cold enough to feel like Nov, but not cold enough where it's hard for your body to keep warm.

I believe we will have a white Christmas this year. I am hoping we can keep the cold bottled up as long as we can and then let it come.in around the 20th of december

Yep, keep 'er bottled up. I expect an arctic intrusion around Dec. 10-15. Careful what you wish for, Dr. Cohen is at least acknowledging the potential for a strong PV and positive AO regime locking in through December. Would lead to a very late start to winter if it happens. Hopefully, the gfs is wrong like usual.

Remember, just because the cold stays bottled up through November certainly doesnt mean we have cold coming later on. I still think this winter sucks

All I'm saying is that I feel better about the current situation as opposed to the last few Novembers when we had lots of cold and some snow already around this time. That scenario almost always means warm December and usually January too.

It is interesting to see how La Nina years can be variable. It can we warm and/or cold... wet (but not too wet) and snowfall in the sampling I pulled for the snow season (not just winter) is average to maybe a little above...especially for southern IL into Indiana. You can even toss in a few winter severe weather outbreaks for good measure.

At our new house the neighbors told me we are in a “frost bowl” as in it get a lot colder at night here. Didn’t think much of it but there may be something to that. Everything is completely covered in frost already tonight and same thing last night around 730pm. Is this a thing?

If you squint hard enough you can start to see something potentially interesting the weekend before Thanksgiving.
The D10 range shows slight potential on the gem and gefs.
At least some cold air has made an appearance in the models over the next couple weeks (along with some warm days).
I can deal with some up and down, but straight torch would be a bummer for the entire month.

Pretty incredible rain event in the Carolinas this morning. Seems like it was the perfect setup for something catastrophic.
