There is no shift SE even on the drier models is there? It's just drier overall.

The snow this morning is really low in the atmosphere.
The way the radar is picking it up shows that.
It's not often the dgz is under 5000ft

Ya it’s snowing really good here. Decent flake size also. Probably the quickest dusting I’ve ever picked up.

There really is no reason why there is not a winter storm watch for down this way and points south ...... 6 plus inches of snow is a possibility with brutal cold...... is it not the NWS job to warn people of this possibility? It honestly makes no sense

Wouldn’t surprise me for some one to pick up a quick inch or two with this. It’s really coming down and the radar looks good in stl

Just eyeballing things, I bet we have picked up at least a half inch in Ballwin this morning. Still light snow falling.

Woke to 1.4°. My point forecast overnight was for a 20% chance of light snow has been productive. Went out to fill the wood boiler, I would guess close to a 1/2".

Last night's models definitely show a SE trend with the primary wave...they are showing more focus on the digging energy coming in behind the ejecting mid-level shortwave which pulls it further S. The hit of WAA with the lead wave still looks pretty healthy Sun PM/Mon AM, but the deformation misses much of the area. The consensus has moved the 850mb low track up the Ohio River, which puts the far SE counties in a much better spot than the Metro.
Hopefully with the energy getting fully sampled with the 12/00z data today, that will get some better focus on how this plays out. I still feel good about several inches of snowfall in the Metro...but we may not see the big numbers that were being tossed around.

We need to be rooting for the new fangled GFS to score a coup here...it's maintained the amplified, negatively tilted shortwave with bundled vorticity and develops much better lift across the region Monday. But consensus has definitely moved away from that idea.

I figured this was all to good to be true. If this ends with a bunch of cold and an inch of snow, it will be the biggest stretch of wasted cold in history. I used really love this time of year.

I'm trying to remember a time when STL got accumulating snow like this while the temperature was also in the single digits. I can't remember it happening offhand, not in recent memory at least.
