Looking like a significant snow for us... surprised it's so quiet on here. Maybe everyone is sleeping. Going to be a long day today and Monday.

Question/fun fact. When was the last time we were in the negative territory and had a good snow? Was it all the way back in 2014?? I know it was cold for that one but I don’t remember if it was as cold as we are expecting for this system. Ya I'm curious

To all my snow removal friends out here.....I wish you the best of luck over the next several days as we battle these snow storms. It’s going to be dangerously cold this time around. This type of cold is very hard on the human body as well as the equipment we are using. Please take proper precautions and be safe!!

I know it was cold for that one but I don’t remember if it was as cold as we are expecting for this system. Ya I'm curious I'm almost positive that temperatures started out in the 20's with that system in the metro. Over where I am at (far eastern viewing area) they were actually in the lower 30's with initial concerns of rain/sleet. The backside of the system is when temperatures started falling into the teens and eventually the single digits, but with this one it's starting in the lower teens and going into the single digits. So, overall this one is going to be a colder system than 2014..especially on the front end.

Slept like a baby dreaming the models were trending in our favor. Come to find out, that seems to be the case! Nothing better than a hot cup of coffee at 4am in total silence reading this blog. Good to know there are others that ride the same routine as me. I love this forum and everyone's passion and collaboration. I've been a member on here for a while, many much longer than me and for me, jumping on here and reading the latest and greatest has always been a great way to start my day! Especially when the trend lately has been much more favorable for us snow junkies!

-1 at Lambert. I think the record for Sunday is -2 set in 1905.

Looks like a thing a beauty out to our west. And appears to be intensifying as it continues moving NE

Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears this might hit the metro earlier than expected. Possibly 2 hours earlier than predicted. Looks like 8-9am for western parts of the metro are likely.

There has been an initial batch that would move through the area during the daytime hours in the forecast for a day or so already The battle will be waged with wave #1 and dry air. It will try and snow this morning with wave 1 but the forcing remains focused more to our west. It's questionable how much meaningful snow will reach the metro from this first wave. The "main event" is more focused on late today (after 4pm) and into tonight. A new thread will be coming shortly...
