I think these are the biggest flakes I've seen come down all week.

Flurries again this morning, I love it! I’m doing the Great Backyard Bird Count & entering data online, Birdcount.org This snow (and 9 birdfeeders) really brings them in. I identified 11 different species yesterday and 3 that I normally see were MIA. I had a purple finch yesterday which I haven't seen in some years. I put out some peanuts to see if I can lure the red breasted nuthatches back...they're my favorite. We had one show back up this week too. Had quite a few of them last summer/fall. He joined the dozens of yellows that have been around all winter.

The 6Z 98 member ensemble (51-EPS/21-GEFS/26-SREF) is showing 0.25" for the north, 0.30" for the airport, and 0.35" for the south.

Confirmed. M0.9" at my house in the St. Peter's/Harvester area. I cleared my snow board yesterday and it was 100% completely dry. It is some really fluffy and loosely packed stuff. Edit: I changed my measurement from 1.0" to 0.9" after I did a couple of checks at other spots.

I am sorry bout the past but really doing all i can to be spot on this winter You have lied about temperatures, rainfall measurements, snowfall measurements, wind speeds... Embellished every type of event so you can be the center of attention or you have some uncontrollable desire to always have the most extreme out come in the area. You would gain a lot more respect if you had the stones to admit this instead of blaming grass measurements. Hopefully the embellishments are finally over because the leadership on this forum has given you dozens of chances.

Not only is his report accurate...he was the only one that I saw that even mentioned a chance of accumulating snow overnight...just saying.

Time to move on, folks. If it needs to be dealt with, we'll deal with it. The constant barrage is just as tiring.

The archived radar actually looks like your area could have gotten 2". Hours under 15-25 dbz. You don't have to try to convince anyone of anything. Your word is 100 percent solid. It's good that he was telling the truth today. He was scrutinized as anyone who has a long history of lying about measurements would. He definitely helped himself today by passing the scrutiny perfectly

So...based on the pessimism carried forward from last night, we should expect a disappointment Sunday into Monday? Nothing Monday into Tuesday?
And maybe something Wednesday into Thursday?

St Peters has had the snow magnet during this long stretch of cold and snow.
Then again historically St. Peter's is on the edge of the next level of better winter weather climo that Moscow Mills, Wentzville, and others further NW have.
So that's not surprising

The 12Z NAM still has 5" roughly along 44/64 Here's what's funny -- My trainer the other day said, "So..are we getting 6" or 20?" I'm not sure where on the internets he was getting his information, but I've heard from a few people who are wondering. Misinformation is dangerous! 5" is a solid snow! But I'm guessing that batch Monday night into Tuesday is no longer as robust as once thought? Kids will probably be in school Tues, I'm guessing? Asking for a number of teachers/friends/kids.

It looks like that stationary band of snow is starting to wind down. Probably got an inch from it. Waking up to this was a pleasant surprise!

Disappointment if you were planning on 15-18 inches of snow blanketing the area. No disappointment if you've tempered your expectations based on recent history. I expect somewhere between 4-8 inches down this way over the next week. Could still end up either disappointed or pleasantly surprised.

It's probably a good time to review the proper procedure for measuring snowfall. CoCoRAHS is a well established standard. climate.colostate.edu/pdfs/snowbook.pdfSomething caught my attention though. There has apparently been a change recently. This text used to appear in their old booklet... One of the difficulties with accurate and consistent snowfall measurement is related to the melting, settling, or evaporation of snow before you have a chance to measure it (especially in the Fall and Spring). Please try to do a measurement as close in time to when the storm ends as possible. Don't wait until 7AM if the snow ended the previous day. During long-duration snowfalls, you may choose to measure and clear the snowboard every six hours. The total snowfall would then be the summation of the different measurements....but has been replaced with this text in the new booklet... During long duration events, snowfall may be measured at shorter intervals for the purpose of submitting a Significant Weather Report or reporting to the NWS, but the snowboard should NOT be cleared! The snowboard should be cleared only after your regular 24-hour observation.

So...based on the pessimism carried forward from last night, we should expect a disappointment Sunday into Monday? Nothing Monday into Tuesday? And maybe something Wednesday into Thursday? The WAA snowfall from "wave 1" Sun PM/Mon AM still looks decent...probably several inches in the Metro and possibly more SE. But "wave 2" is in question...that has trended further SE which puts the Metro on the edge. The second storm later in the week is still a player, but no reason to put much interest on it until the first system gets out of the way.

I feel like the slr are ridiculously high this morning for this region. It's all good. Probably something like 0.03". This snow was probably 25/30-1 ratios. Up in Iowa one reporting station had 3" on 0.08" of liquid.

A general 3-6 across the area should cover it. First wave is looking more dominant. I don’t have any expectations for wave 2 even down here really at this point.

I noticed last night the meso models had some weak WAA and moisture convergence around 925mb overnight and into this morning. I guess they were right. Everything dusted over again in Arnold and fluffy flakes flying
