This salt shaker snow will accumulate, but really hope to get into the intense bands for a couple hours.

Just got back from checking on the chickens. 2 eggs. I averaged out to 1.75". A fresh board is in place for an accurate total after we get Kaboomed. I had a low of -1* this morning and now sitting at 1*. 20/1 seems low with these temps and the lift that is heading our way. Moderate snow, small flakes, vis 3/8-1/2 mile 7 miles west of De Soto. What's the average eggs/chicken, though; and which came first? 10 hens two roosters. The Bantam Rooster and 2 hens are basically our dogs with benefits....eggs. They havent laid many eggs since January. They stay in a tractor coop. The other 9 have a permanent coop and haven't seen them much during this cold stretch. Those hens have also slowed production during this cold spell. Which came first????The Bantams have been here not long after we moved here. They were first.

I want to know if all the people who gave up on this winter and threw in the !Drying Cloth! a month ago have started preparing their dinner of crow. Hard to blame anyone for giving up on this winter in late Jan. The fat lady was just warming up.

The heavier cotton balls might not make it over the metro West until after 12/1PM when the best lift for our area reorients itself as the system ejects NE.
But everyone in the immediate metro like Union to Wentzville and East will get 8" at least

This thing is throwing on the brakes with the increasing negative tilt...radar out of Tulsa is barely moving with a steady stream of deep lift and moisture moving up through the river valley. We're going to see 8-12hrs+ of accumulating snow today and this evening...enjoy!

I’m very curious to know how far we’d have to reach in the record books to compare the overall nature of this storm (both the cold and snow combined). With the vortex literally breaking off with the Arctic air blanketing almost the entire US combined with this huge tap of gulf moisture that’s blanketed Corpus Christy, Houston, Little Rock, Tulsa, Baton Rouge, all of STL/IL, etc. This is biblical when you look at this from the high level entire USA standpoint.

I am fortunate to be in a spot to see 12" today.
I understand that it can feel disappointing to be outside of the heaviest Snow.
Obviously areas just West of the river will be just outside these 30-35DBZ embedded bands.
That's why the models drop down to 8-10" inches over metro West.
But that doesn't mean there won't heavy snow.
It's coming

Don't know about regional or CONUS level, but if you saw my post last night accumulating snow > 1" with temps in the single digits is extremely rare here...so rare I couldn't find a prior event going back to 1945.

N/Central MS plastered with 1/4-1/2mi vis snow with thundersnow reported along the Gulf Coast in LA this morning. Truly an epic, historical winter storm for much of the Central/Southern US.

This product really helps define where heavy snow is. The medium dark shade of blue moving NNE is heavy snow. The darker blu well to our South is crazy snow.

So for the St. Louis Metro would you all agree an average of 5-6 inches and East of the metro 6 + that’s how I’m reading the info.
