Well... that was a surprise inch of snow! I wish the snow the other day had been this fluffy. We would have had a lot more than 6 inches. Do you know what the snow total is in Cedar Hill since these series of events started?

Anyone feel like giving their opinion on if we will see another 4”+ snow this Winter for the Metro area or not so much? Everyone else had enough snow already. 😂🤣😂

Most snow I've seen all winter. Cashed most of this in a 1.5hr timeframe.

Odd that Dallas has issued hard freeze warnings. They mention refreezing, and frozen pipes and stuff. But still odd.

Does the cold air look to come back in the extended? I’ve heard some rumblings that March looks to start off cold and active but I haven’t looked for myself yet

Malvern, Arkansas ended up with 18 inches of snow yesterday
That has to be like 4 season worth of snow for them

Feels like a spring day out there with temps in the mid 20s and some sunshine Crazy how a day that would normally be a "cold day" in mid-February feels like a warm spell.

V16 is really close to giving us something special. It just has that look with all the ingredients nearby in a decent location for it being1 week out. In fact, I like the setup better then the other two models that already want to produce snow.

Does the cold air look to come back in the extended? I’ve heard some rumblings that March looks to start off cold and active but I haven’t looked for myself yet I think March is supposed to come in slightly above for the first couple days, but blocking over the NE Pacific is supposed to develop at the same time which translates to a downstream trough and better chances of below normal temps. If you slide the entire scale of the season right, the “warmth” coming up correlates to what some call the January thaw.

Agreed it is a beautiful winter day. Heck yesterday i was in shortsleeves shoveling the drive when it was 18 as it felt warm to me. Amazing how we get used to it. Thats why us midwesterners are hardy we can handle the hot and cold lol

I stepped out yesterday afternoon to clear the deck..and almost felt like taking my coat off. "It's hot out here," I said. True story.

If the forecast of 50s verifies next week people will want to open the pools. This weekend car washes will be a lucrative business.

The most impressive has been the staying power and depth of the cold. For me, not so much the snow. Getting a foot an inch at a time is a pretty slow way to do it. Winter didnt really get impressive until the first of February. I will say kudos to those who said our winter would be back loaded. It appears that is how it will pan out. I would be impressed with this winter if we manage to pull off one of those big, late winter/early spring snows. I just would love to see one of those late '70, early '80's winters again. Honestly, Id like to see how people today would handle it! I would be concerned about the power/energy grid if that were to happen again. I mean look what happened when we had hard core winter for a few weeks. And please don't make this political but most of the concern over the last 30+ years has been with global warming...imagine (and I have no reason to believe this is happening) if it were to actually go the other way for an extended period. With today's energy and food demands that would be a much, much more significant problem for humanity. So I shouldn’t bring up a convenient trip to Cancun then eh 😂 Anyway, warm arctic, cold continent playing out pretty textbook the last couple weeks. I’m sure Texas being cold will be ammo for some, but it is called “global” warming for a reason.

Good news...NASA's $2.7 billion Perseverance Rover stuck the landing a few minutes ago. It just seems like if we can land a robot on another planet we should be able to forecast the weather better than we currently do.

From NWS Kansas City....
“We currently have a ice jam on the Missouri River north of Jefferson City. A ice jam is pieces of floating ice carried with a stream's current that accumulates at any obstruction to the stream flow. How can we tell? Note the river rise (right images) at Boonville and Glasgow behind the ice jam. Last time it was confirmed this occurred in our forecast area was in 1983-1984 (left image - the green line is Glasgow and the blue line is Boonville) although its believed to have occurred in 1989 as well.”
I couldn’t attach the graphic, but another historic event related to this cold spell.

My problem is I need to see a lot more data and I haven't nor will I be alive long enough most likely to get that.

Also with some melt today, and clear skies and calm winds temps may getbto zero or below in spots with a ton of freezing fog tonight almost optimal radiational cooling tonight.

Or, ya know...have a reliable power grid and roads that aren't like the Oregon friggin' trail.
