The airmass/pop up storms have greater coverage than I anticipated. Hopefully they along with the storm to the north can throw some boundaries and make this evening tolerable outside.

Supercell west of Springfield is the 'mystery' part it could turn more south as it becomes more outflow dominate and merge with the stuff forming around the eastern Ozarks into southwestern Illinois.

Heat over-performing just a tad today with 97*F at LSX/Lambert, 94-95 was the high still could heat up another degree or so before storms or 4PM rolls in and we pass peak heating. Heat Index in the 110s in the metro-east or at least Cahokia Heights/Belleville. A bit shocked only an Advisory was hoisted and not a Excessive Heat Warning, would easily be warranted in the metro-area perhaps even more so then a week or so ago.

Demerson, is that cell over Richwoods. Seems awful close and I hear thunder from it.

Central Illinois storms are diminishing, but outflow from it could still reach the metro area and reinforce more storm development through the evening.

Very heavy rain, lightning and thunder here in Webster Groves. Had some wind gusts of at least 40-45mph, maybe higher.

I have to ride train and bus everyday this heat is absolutely ruined your day.
You're outside for one minute you're soaking wet.
the storms are welcome reprieved but then you have to decide would you rather be hot or be soaking wet from the rain

Did I miss something somewhere? Is this how the storms were forecast to form all along? Looks like I have a gust front moving west from the cell that was over Festus or that general direction.

The 15z RAP run had pop up storms developing like this. The HRRR from what I saw this morning was dry as a bone around here

Looks like I will be missed to the south, north, east and west so far. Hopefully some showers will blow over.

I've had heavy, heavy rain the last 10-15 minutes. Winds probably maxed in the 30-40 mph range. Going to be a terrible evening rush hour if this keeps up

My son who lives in Waterloo says the power is out and they are having extremely heavy rain……The cell just seems to be sitting on top of them It’s funny, I live about 6 miles northwest of waterloo and got about 5 minutes of rain with no wind. The clusters seemed to be just to my south and north. The bare dirt in the yard isn’t even wet, it’s so hot & dry. Would rather have to water tomorrow if no rain than have power out, tho. I think this heartens back to snowfall differences too!

I had about 35 mile an hour wind gust with the gust front from the storm that blew south of me east to west due south of me but it looks like it's starting to curl back up to the north that I might get some and it just started raining here and we just had a pretty close hit a lightning.🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

That was the best storm I’ve seen in years in northern STG county. I ran out in front of it on the way home. Let’s see if it holds together as it pushes south.

So the big storms firing right now just north of the Confluence of the Missouri and the Mississippi that's related to the outflow from the MCS that dropped down through Springfield correct? And likely will not make it any further south and west because of the storms that fired along 44.

Believe me not complaining at all it's still light rain here feels like about 72 or 73, watching cloud-to-ground Lightning to the east of me on the front porch and I never did lose cell service. It's a win, win, win.👍👍
