Ida is a hell of a storm, but I think New Orleans will be ok wind and surge wise. It jogged west a bit the last couple hours. Flash flooding in the city though I think will be a problem. Most models show that max training feeder band on the east side setting up generally over the city.
I’m afraid Grand Isle will not fare so well.

Definitely a significant wobble towards the west this morning which is huge for NOLA. They are still going to get the surge and flooding rains but not the inner eyewall and core.

Looks like on the latest recon eye pass the pressure has stabilized and even risen slightly.
This little western jog could be catastrophic for some of those smaller delta communities like Galliano and Houma.

Finding a couple different sources on the Internet listing Galliano elevation at 3ft and Houma at 10ft. Together those communities have about 40k population.
Edit: I think Galliano has some protection from levees though...

I wonder if the chaser is really on Grand Isle or it's just a pre-placed camera? Reports are that 28 people decided to stay on the island...crazy.

I think this was one of the better forecasts the NHC has ever put out for a hurricane in a while. They got the rapid intensification correct…only off by 10 MPH, honed in on the SE Louisiana landfall 3 days out. It’s arriving maybe a tad earlier than projected a couple days ago, but all in all it’s a pretty darned impressive forecast.

New Orleans may get that eastern eyewall yet. Moving north with some wobbles to the east.

Pretty remarkable how long Ida has remained a major hurricane over “land.”
New Orleans was spared the worst case scenario, but it’s still really bad.

Yea, they are still having 90 mph wind gusts in New Orleans. Crazy how it has been pounding hurricane force winds and torrential rain for over 12 hours now.

I'm in Eureka waiting for Big Boy 4014 to come through. It's kind of like the atmosphere of a rock concert. Ahh, the memories.😁 Weather is cloud covered and just a bit muggy.

Saw it twice on Saturday and on display yesterday. What an absolutely incredible machine. That steam whistle made my arm hair stand up.

Looks like a flash flooding event is unfolding from roughly Belleville to Carlyle with training, slow moving storms.

I keep hearing Thunder too. I just got on the radar and man some of them places have to be in a flash flood or very close to it. they are not moving much.
