Talk about a change in a forecast….. My brother in South Carolina had a forecast yesterday of 3-5 tonight and 4-8 tomorrow….. now they have an inch or less for both with .2-.4 of ice ……went from a snow storm to an ice storm in 12 hours

For a few minutes that snow shield to the south looked like it was gonna make it back up here. Now it seems to be drying up on the northern fringe

I wish I knew …. I didn’t dig into their models to much I was watching ours go all over the place lol

Belleville I saw that little clipper tomorrow night, it looks like most models habit from the Mississippi River East . Definitely something to keep an eye on , please keep us updated on model trends

Models are showing some pretty strong lift and steep lapse rates in the DGZ with the energy flying by here tomorrow night Might see a burst of big flakes along and east of the river

Be careful out tonight, just let the dogs out you can stand on top of the snow because there was so much water in it. It turned to a sheet of ice. And any water on your driverway or patio will be frozen

Definitely a refreeze situation this evening.
There was some blowing and drifting out here earlier...some really slick spots where the snow was blowing over the road and cars driving over it turned it into a sheet of ice.

Been looking at various stuff about the slight rise then dramatic drop in barometric pressure as the wave went thru after the Tonga volcano eruption. Anyone see a graph for St Louis or Midwest?

This system was plagued by a stubborn warm layer near the surface and continues to be. The radar out of Nashville looks very similar to STLs last night with lots of bright banding/melting and weak/shallow returns on the cold side where it's snow.

Looks like a pretty classic cold damming setup in the Carolinas where they are expecting a half inch or more of ice.

Looks like a pretty classic cold damming setup in the Carolinas where they are expecting a half inch or more of ice. The worst part is they are expecting 20 mph winds …. With all the big pine trees that’s going to be awful

Sister lives in Chattanooga. Looks like they might be in line to get a dose of STL desert air. Her and her family love snow just as much as us so I hope they don’t get dry slotted and wind up with just a dusting.

That clipper digging through this evening looks like it might bring an hour or two burst of snow after dark. It actually looks pretty healthy at 500mb with some LER jet dynamics with a band of mid-level Fgen sweeping through...unfortunately it has some dry air to overcome and it's moving through quickly so it probably won't amount to much. But I do think we'll see some snow fly sometime between 6 and 10PM.

NAM also hinting even the ICON of the Wednesday system being more north and yielding an inch or 2 of snow from the metro south as well. One Run 2 models, but its something to watch in the short to mid term in case the trend continues.

Nevermind on the ICON it lost it much farther south in 12Z. 6Z was the more interesting run, but technically showed rain not snow. The NAM was snow.
